Took the 152 out today. Sits at 431 tanks. Got cut short on using it as the recoil spring broke. This will be my main firewood blocking saw from now on. The 261 has sent the 152 into the woodpile. Was blocking 16" wood and the 152 handled it with ease. Has a 15" bar and Oregon 21 LPX chain.
Had the 660 with a 24" bar as a backup. Never again. If it goes again it will have a 16-18" bar. Have the 246 on the truck now for a backup.

Getting close to 500 tanks now. Tearing it down to port. Found some play in the plastic housing.

Art is that play from where the clamshell bolts around bearings or does this have a bolt on cylinder like the 350 with plastic crankcase?
-
The 152 has a metal vertical split crankcase. It bolts into the plastic oil tank housing. 3 bolts on the clutch side, 2 on starter side.
Here is one on e-bay. The entire assembly in the US costs less than a piston here.

magnesium crankcase.

Your not the only Efco dealer having troubles.
AUTHORIZED EFCO DEALER. Please note I am not stocking any efco saws at this time.
Nothing wrong with the saws, as my firewood saw is the 156. It is also a rental saw. My problem is with the distributor. Too hard to make contact with, takes too long to look up parts and too hard to get their statements paid. They know the Super highway is here but don't know how to use it.
-
Sounds all to familiar. :(
-
Found the cause of the play. Will post a pic when camera gets home. Need a new crankcase. Of course the Distributor has none in stock.

Here is the broken crankcase. Break was at the thread boss. Hole in crankcase is circled in red.

Mistake in info. 3 bolts on clutch side. 2 up from bottom.

Art just making that 152 pic in the ebay photo savable for you and me.
That way you can copy save paste, used it in photobucket or whatever.

So it was the mag case and not wollered plastic part it bolts into.
-
Yes plastic is ok, mag case ****.

It lives again.

Got a new compression tester to play will. This saw shows 190, think I will leave it there for now.

It is still running.
