Title: 562 XP, Bar oil trouble, How much should it oil?
Post by: JOE.G on July 04, 2013, 11:22:16 pm
Hi, I have a562 XP, It just doesn't seem to oil the bar and chain all that well, I am using Husky Summer Blend bar oil, I have the oil turned all the way up. It seems as if I get teh chain smoking some times and there just doesn't seem to have as much oil on teh bar and chain and even in the clutch cover like my other saws. If I put it over some Cardboard oil will fling off but once again not as much as my others.

I took the clutch cover off and cleaned everything out, I also blew the bar out and I ran the saw with the cover off and on full oil it seemed to run out pretty good and with the oiler all the way down it did slow up.

SO I guess my Question is how do I make sure it is oiling properly and how much should it oil. Thanks

Open up the oil hole in the bar. It is only about 1/16" diameter. Look at some of your old saws at the size of the oil hole in the bar?

I know my Rancher over oils, My 450 is about perfect, My 562 and my Pole Saw both under oil in my opinion,Do I just use a drill bit? What size? any other tips?

Drill it out.

5/32"-7/32"

I was running my 545 today with a 16" bar. It oils OK to look at the oil splatter. But to bury the bar even in green wood, it comes out dry looking.

I've never touched the oiler setting but I have drilled the oil hole in the bar. It is a bar from Husqvarna but to look at the bar, it is a Oregon Power Match if you ever saw one.

Oiling issues usually doesn't happen on Husky saws, if everything is in order.

If everything is clean, che culprits may be the small oiler holes in newer Oregon made bars, possibly in combination with a relatively thick bar oil ("summer blend").

Personally I like to use the Husky Veg-oil, as it flows easier and you need less on the bar and chain.  ;)

take the bar off the saw and look at where the oil comes out of the saw , you will see a rubber flap that the oil goes threw to get to the hole in the bar , make sure the top of the rubber is not bent down as this will block the oil off from getting to the bar, I have seen this more than once on the 562's , plus run should fire the saw up with the bar off it and make sure its oiling lots

I do have Husky Winter weight oil here, But havn't tried it out in the 562.

I did run it with bar off, Oil came out, I am unsure how much should be coming out though.
The oldest husky bar I have around here is Prob two to three years old, I do have older Stihl bars.

DON'T USE WINTER WEIGHT IN SUMMER!......like troll say's not much problem with HVA oilers if everything ok. check the oiler drive gear ,seal for oil pipe, and vent (can't get oil out if no air in)...seen bad clutch drum bearings and stripped gears. wrong weight oil in wrong season (winter time) winter oil too thin in summer. should have a very little bit of oil left in tank when saw out of gas.
