Title: Who's going to provide the product support for all the saws TSC is selling?

Just wondering where all the saws are going to get fixed. Jonsered dealers in our area are rare and since the shake up with Tilton, I'm not even sure what dealers there are. TSC doesn't work on saws (at least not the one by me) so are they just going to accept returns and replace them or what?

Well in my neck of the woods I work part time for a place that does all the warranty work here for Menards, Lowes, and Poulan.  They might even do more but I have not run into yet.  I do all the chainsaws, the leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, weed eaters, concrete cut off saws, ice augers, and a few 2 stroke snow blowers.   If it is 2 stroke I do the work.

Here in Western NY TSC farms this out to one of the rental outfits who does repair/warranty work for TSC and Lowes Husqvarna I believe the name is Altra.

Well, TSC had sold Husqvarnas until recently and now they are selling Jonsered saws. Jonsered is part of Husqvarna but in the past there wasn't that much cross over. ie, I tried buying Jonsered parts from a Husqvarna dealer and they couldn't sell them to me. (couldn't even pull up the parts numbers) Tilton was the distributor for Jonsered in pretty much the eastern half of the USA but in the past year or so there was a complete shake up and I believe Tilton is no longer a distributor for Jonsered. So many of the Jonsered dealers got the rug pulled out from under them. I had a hard time getting Jonsered parts from the Jonsered dealer and wound up getting them via internet sellers. (they came in Husqvarna packaging, lol)

So I am not sure how the current support system is working in the eastern USA and thus my question. I have one Jonsered saw and one Husqvarna saw left in my line up but have no idea where I would go to find parts these days. (other than "Google")

Jonsered is essentially unheard of in my area and I'm sure TSC selling the brand will help with name recognition but the dealer network was thin and inept. After the Tilton shakeup, not sure what is going on.

There was a lawn equipment place I drive by and I stopped in there as I saw they sold Husqvarna. Thought maybe they could help  me out with the Jonsered parts I was seeking. The person I talked with at the parts counter was clueless as to what I was talking about when I started mentioning Jonsered saws. ie, he had never heard of them and had no clue they were a long time chainsaw company that was now part of Husqvarna. Well, that was a waste of time from my end but maybe he got some new info. I will probably sell my Jonsered since a saw with no support isn't much use to me.

There is some  top notch Jonsered dealers here.  Just saying if you know how to read a IPL and give them a PM with parts numbers etc.

Heck I ordered Dolmar parts from member 166 here because the local dealer was clueless IMO when I even had part numbers in hand. Local just wasnt on top of the new updated stuff coming out for the 6400 7300 7900 back then.

NONE of the Husqvarna or Jonsered dealers in my area are interested in service or parts. I took a 272 in to a local dealer on a weekend as a test. The mechanic called me on Monday and refused to work on the saw, said the piston a cylinder were both scored badly and he was NOT going to do anything with it! I had just rebuilt the saw with NEW OEM parts, the only problem with the saw was that I had intentionally closed both the H & L adjustments!

I would love to have a 272 come in to work on.   Most of the saws I see are the small home owner saws or the husky ?455's.

You are correct on that.   Most people who cut a little firewood are not going to spend big money for a saw.
But some of the other saws I get are cut off saws.   I see quite a few of those also.   I just finished putting a new piston and cylinder in one of the newer Husqvarna cut off saws.   It was one of the newer strato type designs with the extra ports for air to enter the cylinder before fuel mix.  I am just waiting on a new air cleaner and some final adjustments before sending it out the door.

Any Husky dealers that were previously doing TSC service have the option to continue to service the Jonnys. Should they chose to do so, they can get coded so they can buy Jonsered parts from Husky rather than having to sign on with the local Jonsered distributor.

I see it all the time actually. The better homeowner saws can reliably get the job done for many years. And the other sad truth is that the way many of these folks take care of their saws, they shouldn't bother to invest in a pro saw.

I see it all the time actually. The better homeowner saws can reliably get the job done for many years. And the other sad truth is that the way many of these folks take care of their saws, they shouldn't bother to invest in a pro saw. 

A big +1 on that! The few homeowner saws I do look like they were rode hard and put away wet! Nebraska horse term meaning abused!

Yep I see it too.   Oiler doesn't work no problem just keep using it.  Bars with grooves in them so deep that they are worthless to try and grind down.

I have a local Jonsered dealer who works on any type of saw or mower brought to him. 

It is interesting & a little frustrating that he can order a part for a Jonsered using the part number from a Jonsered parts listing & if it is the same part as used on a Husqvarna saw the part will come with the Husqvarna color scheme.

Most every small Jonsered or Red Max part comes in a little plastic Husqvarna bag. And it doesn't necessarily have to be a part that is shared with a Husky model. Some of the boxes have all brand logos on them, Poulan, Dixon, etc.

Husky dealers can get Johnny parts you just have to know the part number, and it can not be red or black I do it a fair amount with my husky dealer.

I just sold my Jonsered so I guess it will be a moot point for me hence forth.
