Was told homelite 1025 , took model off heading because I couldn't find a 1025. Guess I wont know for sure till I see the saw now.
Well I dont see a 1025, maybe he meant 925 1020 1050 1000 1130 or something
What to look at if taking in trade or buying one? Going prices for runner? Just ball park.
I'll start searching for info myself too. In between watching playoff football. :P

Yeah there was no Homelite 1025 from what I know. More than likely a SXL-925 or XP1020 or 1050 as you stated. 'Worth' is difficult, and depends on saw condition more than anything else. Look for the usual. Pull the muffler cover and peek at the P/C. As with most old saws, many people tune them too lean and burn up the P/C (and/or the saw develops an air leak from bad crank seals or leaking gaskets and does the same thing). NOS pistons and cylinders will costya $150-$200 for the pair.
Also look at the bottom of the saw for broken bits and/or corrosion. If it's an XP-1020 or 1050 it should have a mag muffler shield. They're often missing or broken. Check the crankcase at the bottom where it meets the flywheel cover and where the handlebar attaches. They are often busted from rough handling.
On the XP-1020 and 1050 also check the bar pad and underside of the clutch cover for chain rash. People often put the wrong bars (usually D096/D196/UXL XL-series bars) on these saws instead of the correct F014 bars.....................and that leads to damage because the bar tail is too narrow on those for the saws.
If you can get a pic or two I can give you more help regarding identification and value. Having an intact MN/SN tag (or decal) helps value too, and is often missing from these old beasts. Rough value estimates for a runner with a good P/C and no busted or badly corroded bits is probably $100-$250. More for cherry and complete examples (especially for the XP-1020 and 1050 if they have a correct bar in good shape.....................especially a longer one). Much less for beaten/broken saws or ones with roached P/C's. Ebay values for SXL-925 and XP-1020/1050 runners have varied wildly. Some nice ones have gone for $400-$500. Others in similar condition have gone for less than 1/2 that...

I've seen 925's list 100 to 325. I thought the 325 was high at a dealers.

Owner called and left message today while at work. Wants me to check over a new to him 395xp.
Hopefully I remember to tell him to bring the homie too. Then I can get pics for someone if they are interested in whatever it is.

Called back and we talked. Homelite 1050 is the saw in question. He said thinking seal going.

Acres listing for the D009 large Husky mount is in error. States that the slot is 9.5mm (3/8") when it's actually 9mm.
That F014 large Homelite mount really isn't suitable for use on a large Husky (and the reverse is true too). The tail profile of the F014 is much broader, and the oiler holes are much farther apart.
Also, longer F014 mount bars (especially sprocket noses) are getting hard to come by. Be a shame to butcher one up to run on a D009 application saw when the D009 mount bars are so common. A fellow who ends up with an F014 mount bar (that they don't need for an F014 saw) can easily sell it for more than what it'd cost to get a same-length (or longer) D009 mount bar.
The D009 is closer to a D096/D196/UXL Homelite XL-series mount bar (SXL-925, etc) or a D176 mount Poulan/Echo bar. Still pretty far apart from them however. The D096 has a 3/8" (9.5mm) slot and the D176 has a 5/16" (8.22mm) slot. The tail profiles of the D096 and D176 bars are still broader than the D009 mount bar, but not to the same degree as the difference between an F014 and D009. I'll shoot some pics of the different bar tails this weekend and post them up to illustrate.
Guys have ran D009 mount bars on D096 and D176 application saws without issues..................but I've also seen damage done to saws from that practice. I have a Poulan 5200 crankcase that's damaged from when somebody was running an H005 (earlier D009 mount bar) on it. The 5200 takes a D176.
I've also seen damage from guys running D096/D196 Homelite XL mount bars on Homelite F014 large frame saws. Same problems (chain rash from the narrower tail) as well as the chain not being oiled for **** because the narrower D096 bar doesn't even completely cover the oiler slot on the bar pad of an F014 application saw. Just because the slot's the same (both are 3/8") that doesn't mean that there won't be other issues....

I knew the lg husky mount 9mm part but not the rest on comparison. Thank you for info.
I told him to compare to bars laid on top of each other, because I didnt know what the 1050 bar looked like beside that mount pic.

Ya Kevin......Seemed to do what needed to get done. No browning up the chain or bar. I was getting after it on a damn cold day, I might add. Peeled out 4 stubs, all right at 15' long, starting w/a 24" mullberry then laid it into a 40" box elder, still no problems, until I started 1/4ing up the cookies. Then I found some hardware. Nothing new there, after all, I'm a city tree wacker.....lol....Fresh chain, an back at it. The other 2 stink trees filled the whole bar, then made some more noodles.......still no brown....Maybe cause the wood was frozen......It was so cold I just grabbed a gal. of 30wt. motor oil. NO PROBLEM!
I did have to fatten it up a bit going down to the 32" I feel quite comfortable w/the way it's running......A good 1st. outing......Don't want to brag it up to much until I get 10 or 15 gal. of juice thru it......lol .....Shouldn't take long, burned up 7 to 8 tanks that day.

Got the 1050 out yesterday.......Dropped a little mix in the plug hole, alternating into the carb. also.....fired right up each time.....After doing this 4 different times .......it just wouldn't pull fuel on it's own.......I may be moving soon and decided to hang it on ebay as a parts saw......if anyone is interested....

I won't be going crazy in that auction. Looks like it has good potential so long as the p/c are good. I've got enough big-inch Homelites that it's not a must-have however....
