Title: 7300 cylinders
Post by: aclarke on January 24, 2014, 03:22:23 pm
Does the Dolmar 7300 jug have the same open transfers as the 6400?
Anyone run one?  Adam

7300 is like the 7900 cylinder  Adam.  Dan aka Dozerdan has a 7300 for sale right now too.

Thank Kevin.  Did the 7300 come out before the 7900? Or were they all marketed during the same time period?

I'm only guessing. But thinking the 7300 7900 was same time frame. I remember seeing 6400 7300 7900 together. 6400 was only open.
Also Makita had them in 7301 7901 6401.

I will take 400.00 delivered in the lower 48 for the saw with the 73cc cylinder. Add 35.00 if you want the 79 top end on it.
Later
Dan

Thanks kev!   Adam, I was thinking a 6 transfer 52mm cylinder would be interesting for a stock appearing 5 cube.  have to look at one of my 6400 jugs and see if there's enough material to bore that much.   Adam

That is a October 2009 or later or at least has parts on it to make it look that way?

It would be hard to beat the offer of $435 for the 7900 cylinder on it.

The 52mm big bore doesn't have more power than a 7900 unless you port it?

Sounds like he's thinking of boring the cylinder out to 52mm.

I thought big bores were 54mm.

52mm is stock 7900

Was thinking of boring the 6400 cylinder to 52.   curious how the 6 open transfers would flow on a race saw

If you bore a 6400 cylinder to 52mm, the open transfers will be so small that you will have terrible performance

To bore one of these cylinders will cost you $500 by the time you get it replated and finish honed

Under $300 to strip, bore re-chrome at Millenium.  I think your right about the transfer tunnels getting too small!  just did a little port wodo on a 6400 jug and noticed a lot of carbon from exhaust back flow into transfers!  Anyone else noticed this?  Seems like some more blow down is in order

Thats what I remember. Fit piston to your clearance specs too.

Never ran a 6400 let alone seen inside one, besides pics.

We can remedy that about any time!!!!
I have 2 6400's and can't forsee a time in the rest of my life that I don't have one.
They are GREAT saws, and drastically under-rated......IMHO.

sounds like you're at the limit of what that jug can do!

I forgot to remind you for the Poulan GTG, to bring a stock 6400.
