The Lisbon Fire Dept is sponsoring their anual Woodsman competition on june 12 2011. The event will be held at their field next to the American Legion. The adress is 6991 county rt 10 lisbon ny 13658. The classes will be stock saw 0-60cc and 0-100cc, Hotsaw 0-60 and open, and the axe throw. If it looks like we will have enough competitors other events may be added.

Welcome Les and thanks for letting those pa and ny guys know about the event.
I know a few that will be heading your way and by the way this is Kevin aka cut4fun which I also use here.
-
Thanks for the invite and the welcome Kevin. We are hoping this crappy weather breaks soon, and we can get a good turnout.
-
I realized I had 2 work saws that fit your work classes. Then I remembered why I have never went there after google maps.

That is the St. Lawrence river at the top of the pic and Canada on the other side. I'm about an hr south of Ottawa its a bit of a drive for people in Ohio.
-
If that is you flying Les. My place will look about like that (except the road in front is my driveway and ends) and I am right down the road from the very small Galion airport for small planes. ;)
-
Not me, my uncle took the pics, a guy he was in the navy with flew up to visit so they buzzed around the area taking pics. I am in one, working on my haybine accross the road from the photographers house.
-
Les, are those hotsaw classes right? Last year was 5 cube and open.
-
You are correct 5cube and open oldtimers is setting in!
-
Just noticed this one was today.

Nate won both 5 cube and open, I know he had a 3120. I'm not sure what he ran in the 5 cube. I think a J-Red won the 100cc work saw.

Maybe Les will show up and show us some class results.
Looks like the pine was cutting fast with saws. Was pine used for your chops too?
-
Looks like your chopping stand could have used a few more sand bags.

Ya, those little stands suck. So do the log stands. They need some heavy concrete bunks, especially if we're gonna do cross-cut and bowsaw.
-
I was very impressed with your chopping skills Troutfisher. I think i would like to do that stuff as well.
-
Thanks Ron. If you're interested in chopping this video is great. The Bailey's axes are plenty good to get started. I used one on my standing block at lisbon.

Yes. All the cants were pine.

Blood here is my Brent Combs woods ported 066 I had at the gtg last year. It's for sale ;)
Nothing fancy and 100% work saw and uses stock pistons.
Testing in very dry aspen cant with racechain.
