Title: 2006 350 carb screw limiters?
Post by: eriksat1 on February 16, 2014, 12:52:03 pm
I need to cut the limiter off the carb high speed screw on my 2006 Husky 350. Do I need to pull the carb off in order to get at the screws?
The saw is running to lean at high rpm and is right up against the High screw limiter stop on the fat side ccw.
I believe this is a 2006 epa saw.
Never had anything done to it since new, beside spark plug and filters.

I reached in with a pocket knife and cut mine off.

You just cut the ears off.

ERIKSAT1 there were two different EPA specs for the 350 that could have had a 2006 on the ID tag 2004/03-2006/05 and 2006/06 and after. there was also two for the non-EPA 350 2004/03-2006/05 and 2006/06 and after.

The standard 350 non-EPA saws used both the Zama C3-EL18 and the Zama C3-EL32

The EPA saws used three different carbs Walbro HDA-195, Zama C3-EL18 and Zama C3-EL32

All four of the carburetors used have limiters of some sort but differ slightly depending on the actual date of saw manufacture and the specific model of carb used. It appears from the IPLs that you can still cut them off using a sharp knife as 660Magnum suggested. However, I would look at your actual saw to determine which carburetor is on your saw and then determine the best way to render the limiters ineffective. In the Zama C3-EL32 it appears from the drawings that Zama to extra measures to stop end users from defeating the limiters.

Just from a quick look they don't look very easy to get at.

I can understand that especially if it is the Zama C3-EL32! They appear to have some sort of metal or plastic collar around the limiters that would make it difficult to get to the actual limiters.

We can probably cut to the chase pretty quick, have a look at the attached, if your carb looks like this you have the Zama C3-EL32

My 350 was a 2007. It had one of the Zama carbs

I had to turn the screws this way and that to get all of the limiter tab removed from each screw.

You can also pull off the whole plastic limiter assembly but then it is impossible to keep a screw driver in the slot with the saw running.

I have also bought new limiters, removed the tabs from them on the bench and installed them on a chainsaw where someone had removed the entire plastic piece.

If you completely remove the limiter, it will not stay when you try to put it back on. You will need a new one.  They are not expensive.

Have that same set up on a j red 2152 should be able to trim the ears off the caps and have fully adjustable screws as 660 stated. You should not have to remove the white plastic piece to cut off the ears. The carb below is a zama c3-el32. The ears we are referring too are on the top of the white cap and bottom of the red cap.

Well I used my I pad. And I have trouble holding the thing still to take pictures. That is why it is so blurry. It's not the camera my wife has used it and has taken great pics with it. Just operator error. Some times I get it right and some times I don't. In a hurry and wanted to get it posted to help the guy.

I will work on it tomorrow, I just spent the better part of this afternoon shoveling about 2 feet of snow off my roof, supposed to get 6" to 8" more tonight and tomorrow. If I'm not dealing with the bitter cold, it's snow. Can't win this winter.

Eriksat1 , where are you. With that much snow it sounds like the Northeast.

I got the limiters cut off both screws.
On the side of the carb opposite the high / low screws.
The only numbers I can see on the carb are
EL 32
63B.

Did my garage roof yesterday, and we are getting 12 or more inches of snow today and tonight.

YEOW!!! That is a lot of snow, I did not notice how much until I noticed that ridge behind her, which I thought was part of the roof!
