Title: Relatively new 562 XP not oiling
Post by: terpjr on March 16, 2014, 04:01:46 pm
Hi all,
I have a fairly new (bought in Dec.) 562 Xp, has only had 15 tanks of gas run through it.
Oiled very well up until yesterday.
Turned up the setting, still is not oiling.
What are the steps to troubleshoot this problem?  Should I just take it to the dealer to be looked at?
Thanks

Make sure the oil hole in the bar is not clogged first.

Make sure the oil hole in the bar is not clogged first.

And do you have a husqvarna bar or another brand? Check, if another brand that the oil holes line up with the outlet of the pump.

Oil hole in bar is the round hole that lines up with the oiler?  Is there an internal line that gets oil to the chain?  Whatis the best device to clean??  It is a husky bar...  It is dark in the barn right now, will check in daylight...Also - ran saw without the bar and cover on...how  quickly should oil be coming out?
Do Husky's have vented oil reservoir caps?  could that be plugged?
Thanks.

Yes the oil hole is the hole above the opening for the bar studs. The oil tank vents threw the case and not the cap. There should be oil with in a couple of second after mid throttle run time. If you can post a pic or two of the clutch side with bar removed. Not so familiar with the newer husky saws.

Oil hole in bar is plugged, or take it in for warranty. This is not a common problem with this saw.

It is not the oil hole in the bar...
ran it without bar oil barely driipped out...air vent is good and clean...
spoke to the dealer...
his first question was - are you using winter bar oil?
I said;  what's that?
Soooooooooooo...though it pumped good all winter...odds are  that the gear is stripped from pumping that sticky stuff all winter.
Lesson learned...going in to get fixed next time I head out that way.

Question...
what is the best winter oil - upstate NY - name brand "winter" oil?  50/50 oil and kerosene?  Motor oil?  Just so I know for next year...

Where are you in upstate NY? I am in Rochester.

Albany area...little west near Amsterdam.
Not true "upstate" but if you don't say upstate then people assume NYC.

The gears in my new saw are not stripped off and it too stopped pumping oil (a 450).

It was pumping normal thick sticky bar oil just fine in the winter. it just stopped one fine sunny day when it wasnt even cold out.

I think these new saws just have sh1tty oil pump designs.

I have six of the newish saws and have never had a oil pump problem.

My brother on the other hand has one of the most popular saws on the planet and he has had constant oiling problems with it. He now runs a 351 & 359 that I fixed up for him. :D
