right outa the box that way. didnt notice it till i ran it for awhile, noticed the top two coolin fins were wet, so i dried um off,ran it again,wet again. then i noticed the crack

You should contact Husqvarna! Obviously a manufacturing defect, should be a no problem warranty situation!

Wow that is a strange place for a crack.     I was just thinking to my self if I was going to weld that how I would do it.

I think I would use a Tig and cut part of the top fin off so you could get to the crack and then weld the fin back on.

aftermarket? I'd junk it and throw a good one on it before wasting any time trying to fix it. cheaper.
also; did you check the squish before throwing the cylinder on? how tight was it? could be the piston was making more room for itself. tapity tap ;)

i used the base gasket....there was no evidence of the piston hittin the top of the cyl. it ran beauty.....just a defected one
