Title: Stihl 051 AV
Post by: KilliansRedLeo on March 24, 2014, 11:37:42 am
I have an 051AV under the bench I would like to get running. It uses points and condenser ignition and I was wondering what it would take (if even possible) to convert it to an electronic ignition system?

It uses the same trigger unit as the 030, 031, 009, 015 etc.

1118 400 1001

Thanks Fish. My name actually got pulled in the Landrum raffle! Told them to turn it round in the next go round as you stated and I agreed.

I believe the 051s went electronic after serial number 3 001 400, is that correct?

Don't know.  The trigger unit has a date of 1991 beside it in the mediacat.

Just looked in the SM that 660Magnum sent me Pg 26 in the small print it does say 3 001 400, the one I have starts with a 6 so guess I'm good to go, if the module is not cooked!
