Had a question from a customer today about different types of mufflers used on the 880. I have no idea what the answer is so thought I would ask. According to him Stihl used two or more types of mufflers on the 880 and he was wondering if there was any performance differences/advantages in the muffler types. His description of the two types used was that one had a smooth ace and the other is ribbed.
The smooth faced one sounded to me like the case aluminum one used on the 088, that is all I know. If anyone can shed any light on this for me that would be great.

WAG here. never owned a 880.
The OE 880 muffler is like the 088 and then there was a later NE 880 with updates and different muffler around 2010 = guessing.
OE fits OE only and thinking there was some different bolt on outlets ( all shown on mediacat). NE fits the NE only.
Threads on NE.

Because of the exhaust leak I been having blowing on the oil tank and crankcase gasket. Doing this since no tank heat foil on case. No gasket was used even on oem.
