Now snice things are slowing down at home now days.My boy is headed off the navy this fall.So our plan is to get most of them going like new and use them for cutting up wood for our wood burning for my wife and I to heat the barn ( old Farm House).Plus teach my son a thing or too about saws.I have a jony dealer I go too 40 miles away I buy saws that need little work for 50 bucks or a top end free no charge for the saw.I go threre every 3 months come home 3-4 saws. I have alot of places I go to pick up fixer uppers and I love working on them a lot (hobby) ;D.. Wife calls it a money pit..lol. :P. I'm like  ::)..lol

Please help on what tygon fuel line size I should order for my jonys.

Jason, the Tygon will work but black rubber or viton will last longer. Tygon does not work well at all for impulse lines. Best place to get line in quantity is mcmaster carr.

Look for part # 5119K31 and buy the length you want.

Also available in metric sizes.

why won't tygon work long term and on impulse lines...OEM is junk IMO, so you suggest to just keep changing it? PITA
Vitron? is that what we call Viton, pretty dear if its the same thing we use in industry.

All petroleum, caustic and acid designed diaphragms and shuttles in pumps and valves are made from Teflon, has anyone seen Teflon tubing?

Anyways off to dealer ($$$$) to get a fuel line on my 346 replaced. 1 tank cuts about 4 wheel barrow loads of wood and my right knee is soaked. It really streams out when you pump the primer bulb.
The price you pay to save the planet and let farmers afford to eat I guess.

The tygon lines don't like heat, get soft and collapse or blow right off. The link above will get either type viton or rubber. You can also use dolmar fuel line red stuff quite good. Do not know what it is made of but works great, sometimes called ps-421 fuel line, 1 meter for 6-12$ depending on source. And you are correct is is 'viton' my fat fingered mistake!

This is Dolmar 965452660 impulse line that comes in a one meter length. It is a muted dull red color. I've seen various prices from $6 to $12. It will probably last you a life time for impulse hose. Stamped "EPA-M6X-FA"

I use quite abit of 3/4",and 1 1/4" tygon at work. Everything from gray water to water so hot it was steam a minute ago. How hot does it get beside a jug?
I find with the hot water the tygon shrinks right on to a barbed coupling you need a hacksaw to get it off.

Anyways, I got fooled today.Went to dealer A today and they are done with Husky, Stihl only, and the schematics on the manufacturers website said 1 piece, 2 lines including the primer bulb.
Not just a chunk of new line...
$9, but I have to go another dealer because they have one in stock.

Other dealer, also dropped Husky and is a Echo,Shindawa, Redmax saw guy now. He looks at it. Said c'mere....takes hemostats and attaches to fuel line, undid  handle mount, snips 1/8" off reattaches. It fell off.
Said it happens all the time and if he sees me in there again for the same problem he'll charge me $20.

I think all of the Tygon formulas carry a "U" rating (not recommended) for gas, alcohol, aliphatic hydrocarbons. Impulse lines certainly get their fair share of fuel spray

I've used the 4040A Tygon in model airplane fuel tanks and chain saws for many years and it has always been satisfactory except in applications where it got hot. Wasn't worth a toot around something that got hot. I've tried using it for crankcase impulse hoses on model airplane engines and also smoke applications where smoke oil is pumped into the muffler and Tygon didn't work hooked directly to the muffler and the impulse lines fell off some crankcases that got hotter than normal.

Interesting!  mfg uses a 28 day immersion test at 73 degrees for the basis of their compatibility recomendations. Seems ok with alky/nitro, although it tends to swell in my experiences. I've had better luck with silicon based hose for alky/nitro

Read an article on Tygon a few minutes ago and apparently Tygon tubing (st gobain) has 7 different base material formulations depending on application. I've always been under the impression that Tygon was Tygon! Lol.  Varies from silicon to pvc.

In my reference to model airplanes, they were gasoline powered same as chainsaws.

With my methanol/Nitro airplanes I used the silicone type tubing which turns to jelly around gasoline.

I've always been intrigued by the hp ratings the rc boat guys are able to get out of the little Zenoahs. Blows the open/closed transfer hoopla out of the water...

The proper fuel lines are awful cheap, and still available. No need to make it a project finding a substitute.

These guys use many of the tricks that the chainsaw guys use. You would fall in line with every modification they do.

They use the same squish dimension and there are finger ports, crowning the piston and all the others you have heard about.
