Title: Air injection comparison PP 505 415 475 Jred 2083 2077
Post by: Cut4fun . on June 27, 2011, 05:23:01 pm
This thread is to take a look at the difference in the air injection on 505 and ( 2083 2077 ) ?  compared to the 415 475 non air injected. Something I noticed on my 415 and 505 is they both use same air filter, carb, boot intake,  even though the 505 is air injection.

mweba  does your new 505 have different air filter and intake set up?  David Young what about your 2083?  Modifiedmark 475 non-injected what does it use?

Also the Jred and PP  handles swap out. I see no difference in the two.

The only area I see that would need blocked is the carb cover hole to run the tanks of 505 2083 on non air injected 415 475. As you can see there is something on the 415 yellow cover where air injection could be and is blocked.

Here is a pic of the air injection on my 505.  Will be digging through the pics for the others.

Your 475 uses that different air filter set up I was wondering about.

Your 505 is same as mine air filter and injection and the 415 has same air filter without injection as 505.

 Interesting 475 is different.  ???

Thanks.

Gonna need a refresher on pics.

Using photobucket IMG code is easiest or other outside pic host.

Looks like you did right for using this hosting software here. Just think 100kb or under.

The 475 is indeed an odd setup.  It made me nervous at first but it seems to keep the fines out.  The 505 on the other  hand is more straight forward and does not need frequent cleaning.

Is your 505 using fine mesh for filter?  My 415 and 505 is.

The 475 is indeed an odd setup.

I found 2 new poulan tanks with the different filter set up of 475. I am going to compare and see if I can run the 505 filter set up on them.

If memory serves, at least the P7700 were made in both configurations, at different times.

I did a google images search and found a partner 7700 and partner 660.  I think they are Belgians saws if I remember right. Couldnt find any pics under the carb covers though.

Partner and PP had the smaller ones (65 and 71cc), but not Jonsered.

What was the model number of a 71cc one? I know of 65cc 77cc 82cc but I've must have missed this 71cc one.

The complete series of Poulan Pros based on these are the 415, 425, 445, 475 and 505.

The 445 would be the 71cc version.

My 505 is identical, fine mesh filter with blue air duct coming off the flywheel. Though I haven't run this saw or its kin to know, I seems like it was a good idea. Wonder how much air pressure is built and if its worth trying to gain more?

The Husqvarna 365 special and 372XP have air injection

The air injection on this Husqvarna can give confusing impressions?

To remove the air injection and the adjusting needle baffle and do nothing else - - the engine will run noticeably faster

But this faster running is because the engine is now running leaner. To re-adjust the needles to the same mixture ratio as before - there is little difference.

This difference in mixture level is caused by the ambient pressure level inside the air box and its effect on the metering valve diaphragm vent hole of the carburetor.
