Title: PP330 big dawg repair
Post by: Cut4fun on May 11, 2014, 05:57:10 pm
I never could stand the big dawgs used on the poulan 330.  Well while I was working on the 365 I decided I was going to fix that ugly azz  huge dawg.

The 330 dawg had been busted on the lower spike and I had fixed it before.  Today I tried to bring the other spikes closer to the busted one.

I did sort of same thing with the dolmar 5105's inner dawg. made mine not so tall.

Good idea guys.

I have one of those big dawgs also and using the smaller one as a template is a good idea.

I been thinking of putting a more normal size spikes on my 5105 instead of those duels that came on it.

This is the shape of the Dolmar 510 spike that will bolt onto a 5105

Nice job, now how about the finish?  Ive been playing around with 'cold blue' on a couple of these parts.  Bar plates and dogs and maybe even a bar w/o paint here and there.  This would be the cold blue used to touch up firearms.  Gives the steel a deep black color, almost like parkerizing and wont chip or scratch like paint.  Buy it off the rack at Walmart with the cleaning rods and gun oil.

I only have one of them and it's on my 111 :)

sharkey, any online places to buy the cold blue from? nobody has it round me, not even the 2 gun places.
