Title: Oil Seals from China
Post by: KilliansRedLeo on May 21, 2014, 09:47:54 am
Anyone used them? What kind of luck have you had? Normally use OEM but seals from HVA are getting expensive. Also anyone have an industry number for both clutch and flywheel seals for a 372XP?

You need to look up the OD and ID of the seals and decide on Single or Double lip and Buna-N or Viton, etc.

Years ago C-R was the definitive brand.

The OD would be the same as the OD of a 6202 and the flywheel seal ID would be the same as the ID of a 6202. The clutch side, I don't know about the ID right off.

Good advice however the 365/72 saws do not use seals with an OD the same size as the OD of a 6202 bearing on either side, they are smaller than the bearing OD which is 35mm. The ID of the flywheel side is 15mm. The clutch side has to accommodate the oil pump drive sleeve which is larger than the ID of the bearing.

OEM numbers on those seals are 505 27 57 19 and 503 26 03 01 .They are like $3.95 a pop at Northwood saw . I suppose they might fetch 10-12 a pop OEM at a dealer .

As I said before often .I use OEM for Stihl and after market for the very few Husqvarnas I own or might work on .I haven't had a problem yet with AM seals .

Thanks for all your kind advice. I was wondering if I could buy the seals in bulk from a local supplier rather than a couple pairs at a time. However the local supplier requires an industry reference number in order to quote a price and place an order. Neither the factory or the seals from Nothwoods Saw have any sort of identifying number on them. Just thought that someone here may have the industry number for the appropriate seals.

I have a set of those Northwoods supplied seals and they are right nice.

It seems kind of hit and miss, quality may be improving?  I try to stay with oem but bought a bag of Chinese seals for use on Lawnboys.  The seals last two season/years before they fail.  Initially I thought that they were great, and the price was great etc.  As they come back to me, Im no longer so enthused.
