Title: Stihl 361
Post by: Cut4fun . on July 07, 2011, 12:03:39 pm
Here is the 2nd easiest muffler mod for a 361 at almost no cost except for husky or stihl deflector used.

The easiest is just drilling 3 or so holes in the front lower. This has been the best running stock 361 I have ran to date and it came all the way from NS with muffler mod.  8)

Our 361 came from the US, unless it was an Arctic. Was looking at IPLs in the shop. 2 cylinders made for the 361. US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand got one cyl, everyone else the other.

Had a stihl 361 come in yesterday to go through and muffler mod. Going with the muffler mod on top pic and on left side with rivets like shown on the 346 muffler mod.

I needed to order some more deflectors so I sent the saw back with owner till my order comes in.

That's exactly how mine looks. Thanks again for the tip. Do you take the internal baffles out completely? I drilled them some but was thinking about just cutting it all out.

I dont remove (due to I cant weld).  It seems the inner baffle flows enough for stock saw.

I got ya. I can't weld either, was thinking of cutting it into pieces with the dremel, would probably be a pain to get out though. She runs pretty good now anyway so no real need to change anything.

Found a stihl 361 yesterday.  $325 ready to go OTD.  Not in my hands would have to drive about 40mins one way to get.

I haven’t done this since I tested a stock muffler modded 361 with 32”.
Clone G366 stock muffler mod with 32” full skip square.

32" was buried for most of cut

Ok impressive it pulled it buried. Need to check and see how it oiled now. Oem was getting stingy back then even is a 2' spruce years back

Imo oiled better then what I recall my oem 361 did in just 2’ of spruce and 32” back then
