Title: 359 clutch?
Post by: cuttinfornotting on July 26, 2014, 10:14:27 am
I knocked off the clutch with a hammer and old screw driver, only took one hit. I replaced the inboard chain rim sprocket. Now how much do you re-tighten the clutch when you put it back on? I do have a clutch removal tool and a piston stop. Just not sure how much to tighten it?

I pit the all together with the clutch spider as hand tight as I can make it. Then I put the saw in some wood and make a few cuts. That tightens it up good enough.

Don't let the saw quit when you first start it and have the chain cover on.

There was one guy with a outboard clutch saw and he started the saw without the clutch bell. It slung the clutch weights to kingdom come.

Also there's a chance of the saw backfiring and unscrewing a clutch spider with a inboard clutch when you go to start it so it is best to have the cover on.

Just like 660mag. I hand tighten, put b+c on and stick it in some wood.

Dont start saw with no b+c on and just hand tighten though.  :o

I never thought of it but I have started lots of saws without the b&c or cover on. I guess I will stop that practice.

If it is already tight no problem. But only hand tight after reassembly. Well lets just say you could get a surprise. Been there done that when I have forgotten.
