Post by: pete on August 04, 2014, 08:22:52 am
received in the post today from greece an aftermarket kit branded hiway what can anyone tell me about them  eg maker country quality etc reason for asking is if they are any good I need to order at least another 5. A mate got real lucky over the last few weeks 3 066s at a yardsale all non runners 20 bucks each and another two fom a stihl dealer 100 the pair. He cuts a lot of firewood and has had tw.o chinese kits go bad  hell one of them sh#t itself on idle after the rebuild. anyway is the deal is he doesn't want them all so the leftovers will come my way for helping him scource the parts etc. It was thanks to links here I went to greece to get this first kit Dandrikop. so looking forward to any feedback that can be provided cheers

The Cylinders From Dandrikop are well made. Not sure if they are made in Greece or Asia, but the Dolmar cylinders are quite good for the price.

The Hiway is the better of the Eastern aftermarket P&C sets and DLA gives good service.

Hiway kits are ok, but you always have to check the exhaust port shape.  Often AM kits are too flat on the exhaust roof and will snag a ring in no time.  With a little work on the sides and a slight amount on the roof you can get a nice oval shape that will not snag the ring.  Also make sure to re-bevel the ports.
