Title: Husky 350 Need help with piston ring & etc

A guy wants me to install a new piston ring, gas line and rebuild the carb.. I can not find on it any where the year or s/n number. Is there a difference in the fuel line or piston ring in the years? It has a Walbro HDA 196 carb if that helps. And he wants all factory parts. Please help never worked on a 350

They made a 44mm piston and a 45mm piston for the 350. If it has a dished piston. That will be the 45mm IIRC.

They originally had a "44" or "45" in blue ink on the top of the cylinder.

A 45mm 353 piston fits the 45mm 350 and is flat top.

The 1999 350 was more than likely 44mm unless someone changed it?

45mm has external transfer covers.

A word of experience - a real old chainsaw may have been changed over time?

It may have some other cylinder? There were several C/P that would have fit including several aftermarket variations.

Take a look/see and measure before buying anything?

Yes, I assume so - but as you said it usually is easy to find out for sure.

The use of the 45mm topend with a dished piston was a simple way to get the cc over 50, where the EPA regulations were a bit more "friendly".
It was a US market EPA "thing" at first, and I am not sure they ever did the same thing for other markets, or all of them.

The good thing with it is that the flat top 353 piston fits, making it easy to upgrade the power output to 353 level.

If it's a 45mm I have an extra flat top 353 piston laying around that I don't need. Don't think I have a ring for it though. If interested send me a PM. I also have a dished oem piston, again no ring,  that came out of mine. If it's a 45mm not tough to swap pistons for a little more power. Save the wrist pin clips if you can if you remove the piston, haven't heard good things about some of the aftermarket ones. If it needs a ring might want to look at seals also with that much run time.

It is a 45mm piston. So what part number would it be? So what year would it be? I am going to get the parts for it from parts tree.

You can get Meteor pistons and Caber rings from HLS.

They ship out right away if it is in stock.

Their more expensive far eastern aftermarket stuff (Hiway brand) is pretty good. But I still like Caber rings better.

Well he wants to keep it cheap as he can. Just woundering why do all of you like Caber rings better then OME?

Cabers are cheaper than OEM and just as good.

Some of the aftermarket ones, especially the split rings, you stay away from
