Title: pro mac 570
Post by: pete on August 24, 2014, 08:43:32 am
got one of these on ebay recently think I posted got a bit burned. Anyway worked out a redneck fix for the missing bar stud. Previous owner stuffed a stud so he chiselled. away enough of the casting inside the oil tank that stops the square headed bolt from spinning.
Been peeved about this purchase for a few days and could not think of a way to fix it without replacing lower clam shell/oiltank until this afternoon
Got a heap of 10 series stuff so I am going to cut off another stud at the head and then weld it to the head of another stud side by side this will then have enough length to  get back under the casting. Pics will follow when i get the cd for my camera loaded onto this computer, tried tonight but windows kept telling me computer does not recognise plug in.

Pete,
Im not real familiar with the PM 570, but if it is like other Mac's of its time, it should have 5/16 bar studs?  Echo also uses a 5/16 bar stud with a square shoulder, more like a rectangle which along with some epoxy seats them to the case.  We have a couple of the Echo style bar studs here if you want some measurements and/or a pic to see if these might work for you let me know.

Got plenty of studs thanks for the offer though. The problem was Previous owner chiselled away the casting that stops the square heads from spinning when undoing and tightening the bar. Got it sorted today cut down another stud welded the head alongside another one in effect gives me a rectangular head stud that reaches into where the P.O. had not damaged pics will come
