Title: Shelf Queens or Lookers
Post by: Cut4fun . on September 05, 2014, 03:50:30 pm
Lets see some of the super nice like new shelf queens or super nice lookers you have picked up. Mainly for looking at or just a gtg. not for beating and busting up with use.

I look for, find, buy, test run and pass them onto collectors myself.  I will dig some pics up too.

Sometimes I have certain collectors in mind when I find saws and give them dibs. Most dont make it past round 1.

Yes, I had a partner 5000 with heated handles too.  I had to move it on too. To nice for me to keep around.

The Dolmar 116Si, 120Si, 6000i, and 6800i have been favorites for many years.

The piston/cylinder assemblies will all interchange among these.

Anymore parts are hard to come by.

Great idea for a thread, looking forward to the future pages!  :)
Those Partners are great, the Johnsereds as well, interesting how similar they look though, but they were still independent Swedish
companies at that time? And of course, the ps6000i is an all time favourite, looks like new on the pics!

Hehe, read your guys like warm hands, here is a buddy for the Jonsereds above,
an exhaust gas heated Sachs Dolmar 119  ;D

The muffler is quite special and has two additional pipes that even have separate valves to set their outlet (accesible from the front, directly in the muffler ittself).
Those pipes are connected to a bluish plastic tubing that feels somehow teflon-like.
I would guess that it is high density polyethylene (HDPE) since it would be heat resistant up to 200 °C and back in those days definitely a very special and expensive material and a suitable choice. One of those tubes just goes into the front handle bar, the other one passes the cylinder and ends in a piece of really strange crappy rubber that goes all the way back to the inside of the rear handle. The hood and the crankcase have some additional "cut outs" to allow this tube to pass through. Two or three fins of the cylinder were cut accordingly. The front handle bar has two holes as entrance for the tube and outlet for the gas...

If you ask me,  these are all "hand made" modifications of a stock saw that were made at the factory right after production.
In technical terms, every 119 (112, 114, etc) can be modified accordingly, except the muffler there were all stock parts. It have never tried this one after I refurbished it, most like a normal 119, just with some more smell and smoke around the user ;D I cant believe that this concept is actually working, it is just absolutely typical for Dolmar!...well, since Sachs-Dolmar 113 (if you want, a late 114, early 80ties, heating was always electrical !

They might be pretty rare, I only have noticed them twice; one was on ebay.de about 6 years ago, the other one is in my collection that came from a shop, customer return. Nevertheless, I once also found the smaller muffler of a 112, 114 with those pipes, that means that they must have existed as well, probably just in the US!

The bar is 10 years too young, recently I switched back to a used one, still a better fit. Those pics are not up to date.
