Title: Gold saws What happened to this Stihl

Gold plated Stihl Lightning

There was a long article in the Aug 1965 issue of Chain Saw Age magazine titled The Andreas Stihl Story. The article mentioned that in 1962 the 200,000th Lightning was made. The saw was gold plated and was presented to a logger in Australia who had been with the same outfit for 30 years and had been using Stihl saws for 25 years.

There were no more details given, whether it was actually gold-plated or what kind of plating they used.

Lets all look for it its out here in Australia somewhere

Gold stihl story.

The man who had this saw  has said, that there had been three saws GOLD-PLATED (chrome gold)? it had been earned by 3 chain saws seller in canada, this saw had been won by a seller of quebec saws, and the seller makes winning among its customers, and  is a woman who won and thought  that was on the gold, she has scraped some place with a knife and took a jeweler, she sold to a man who saw with this saw the state united, man found what shone in the sun too, and the man was afraid that have stolen his saw, so has soiled the saws, for years he sawed with the united state and canada with, after he gave it to his son then I bought him

I can only assume perhaps those 10 cube might have been kart engines ?

Legion had it that at some time or another Mr Stihl's grandson was into kart racing so he directed his engineering staff to come up with something that could out run a Mac 101 .Weather the engine was successfull or not I never heard keeping in mind with a 100 thou over bore and a stroker crank the Macs came pretty close to 10 cube .It would be interesting to find out .

Magnus posted about this gold husky 350

Here is a gold painted Husqvarna that marked a special number of saws produced or something, I forgot right now.
It was in a monter in entrance to factory in Husqvarna.
