I've always run Stihl but it sounds like theres a lot of good Huskies too. I'm always ruining across used saws and I'd like to know which are good deals.
Which Huskies are the ones to look for? As I understand, some Jreds share designs? Thanks

Husqvarnas
Generally the XP versions in 300 and 500 series
-
Lot of good ones in double digit like 66 61 etc and 1 and 2 series too.

I've had a 235 and 141 but they looked like Poulans. I may have been wrong. I've seen specific saws in the 200, 300 and 500 in posts that people like but didn't write them down and can't find all the old threads now. Some we're popular because of port design, some because a larger top end could be fitted, etc. I'm trying to find out which ones these were.

235 141 = poulan built for husky
Just off top of my head. Please add to list.

Add to the two lists above the older 50, 51, 55
Poulan only makes the two smallest cheapest Husks.

Thank yo all for the Great lists! Bluegill, you mentioned only the smallest, cheapest Huskies by Poulan. Who made the larger big box store saws? For example, the 440 or 455 Rancher? I see those everywhere.
I read somewhere that Poulan and Husky are no longer affiliated? Thanks again everyone!!

wik = Poulan was originally an independent American company based in Shreveport, Louisiana, founded as Poulan Saw Co. in 1912 by chainsaw pioneer Claude Poulan. Purchased in late fifties or early sixties by the Beaird Company, also of Shreveport, it was known as Beaird-Poulan. The company was acquired by Emerson Electric in 1972, and was purchased by Electrolux several years later.
1978 - Electrolux acquired Husqvarna
2006 - On its own feet husky was spun off by Electrolux.
2006 Electrolux spun off Husqvarna AB into its own company, with Poulan nested beneath.
-
What does spun off mean? Husqvarna and Husqvarna AB? These were 2 different companies? With Poulan beneath, does that mean they're still affiliated and Poulan still makes the cheap Huskies? Thanks Kevin
-
Husqvarna was set up as it's own entity with a separate stock market listing although E-lux held the controlling interest. It is now the largest manufacturer of forestry, lawn and garden equipment in the world. Electrolux AB is concentrating on it's core business, appliances and refrigeration equipment.

Yes, Poulan and many other brands - and Husky has bought more, most important Zenoah/Redmax and the world rights to the McCulloch brand name (they already owned it for at least Europe).

Husqvarna makes the 435, 440, 450, 455 etc, in Sweden. All models except the two smallest, cheapest model (235,240?)
Husky owns Poulan.

And the owner of Husky has owned Poulan for many years, since back in the 80's

Electrolux bought Poulan in 1986, and Husky "inherited" it in 2006, along with a lot of other OPE brands and factories.

My favorites are the Husky 272XP and the 385XP.
I have the 288XP and that saw is a beast.
I also like the smaller Huskys as well 235/240.
If you want to look for a model that has a large following I saw any saw in the 2XX series.
