Title: Ms 660
Post by: jmester on December 29, 2014, 09:48:33 pm
Have a 660 low on comp. slid ring back in the cylinder and measured the end gap and it is a little smaller than 1.0mm. Was thinking off putting just a set of rings in it. What are some of your thoughts? Looks like the saw has a lot of hours.

I think the piston will clean up and the cylinder just needs a scotch brite pad ran down threw it to clean it up a bit. Maybe a new piston would the best option. The intake side of the piston has a lot of wear from dirt ingestion. Junk woodland pro filters. :)

I'd put a new piston in.  Big end bearing looks like it's been really hot!!!!

I noticed that too Adam. It is still tight i will check it again and give it a real good look. the intake boot is torn almost have way threw. missing some screws will always work thsoe intake elbows to pieces.

Thinking it needs a crank it has a fair amount of play in the big end bearing. You can see the bearing move up and down on the crank. Don't mind what I said above. Must have had my head some where else.

Probably got lean with the **** boot. Dirt and crap through the funky aftermarket filter didn't help. Maybe someone here has a good used 66 crank? Cylinder looked ok, least it's not a crank and cylinder!!!  Lol

I agree. i have a used crank. I need to get a price together and call the guy and find out what he wants to do. but i might check around for a used crank on here if that is how he would like to go. i would like to keep the one i have for my own saws.

Thanks Adam. What do you guys think of the aftermarket cranks that are out there? Is it the same as there piston and cylinders all over the place with quality.

I've read that some of the AM cranks are pretty durable. Still thinking I'd go with a used oem

I am a oem if I can get used first.

What ever brand aftermarket Randy mastermind has put out in.  Has been tested in milling saws and has held up from what he says.

Still if I was buying  I would want a used oem over new AFM. Just me.

thanks guys. Was just looking to see if there was any good afm cranks out there. To try and give the guy that owns the saw some options. I agree would rather have used oe then new afm.
