Title: new Dolmar 6400 spikes
Post by: Nathaniel Vansickle on January 08, 2015, 12:50:53 pm
Dolmar has changed their spikes and they now have holes in them for a roller chain catcher. The stihl one fits perfect  ;D

They appear even bigger now?  Can you post a pic with old on top of new to see the differences. Which looks like many.

Look good!  Gonna need a Redwood tree with some extra thick bark to utilize those!!!!

Glad to see they've gone away from the Buck Rodgers look with those.

Those are something aren't they?  I was surprised as hell a few weeks ago when my newest saws started coming through with those.

Our local machine shop is making us some smooth ones, and normalish sized ones.

Took me a couple days but I tracked down part numbers and put my order in for 2 dozen sets of them. Dolmar does not have a roller chain catcher though. They put the holes in for one but at this moment they don't have one available or have plans to make one available

What's the P/N for the new outers?  I have the inners, but no dice on the outers yet...  EDIT - found an updated IPL, problem solved.  038-250-230

You can actually order them? They still aren't in my distributors system. Only the old numbers show up

I ordered under the old # from Jack's Small Engines and this is what I got.  Now I need to get 2 of the outsides, since these will NOT match up with the two three-prong outsides I have sitting around...

EDIT: Once you can get them in, let me know: I need 2 sets of the outers.  And if you happen to have (or can get) 2 sets of the 3-prong inners, I'll take those, also.

It is screwed up right now. These guys in the warehouse are relabeling the new spikes with the old numbers but only one side. Ten calls later and the only thing I accomplished was they pulled what they had out of inventory. I have the new numbers....told the ordering guy I wanted 2 dozen of each on the new ones and now since they pulled their inventory I can't get either new or old style. I ordered some of the old style in and got the new style that is how I found out they are relabeling

Seems as though there are some real winners down in Columbus. You order decals and they have torn the decals apart from the sheets instead of cutting them. They tear right into a decal and mess it up.

I ordered a outside spike for a 6800 and they send me the inside spike. I knocked the rivnuts off with a hammer and used it on the outside.

Yeah winners! That's what we call it now?

That is nuts.

Guess I will have to look for the three-point ones on eBay...Done.  We will see what shows up...

I still wish that we had as a option to buy here in the USA area the overseas dawgs.

For the trees around here, I would be better off with the European size dawgs

I am working on seeing if a friend in Germany can get some and ship them over, so there would at least be some out there for a handful of folks who might want them...

Also wish that the Dolmars still had red tops, too, for what that's worth.

You can get small spikes for a 5105. You just get the one for the price point saw (510 or 460?)

Just giving an update. No word yet on when you will be able to order the correct spikes. here is the correct part numbers for the new spikes and current inventory.
INVALID ENTRY
038250230 - Invalid Part Number.
0 [IMG] [IMG] DOL, 038250221
SPIKE BAR, PS-7910

on a brighter note I installed a new set on my saw along with a roller catch. They used some quality steel in these. I ruined 2 drill bits drilling the inner side to a larger diameter.

Bringing it back to the top. I finally received a few of the outer spike. correct part numbers are. 038250222 inner and 038250232 outer but still cant just order these things. PD still says the outer number is an invalid entry and they have no interest in updating it or ordering it in.
