I did some repair on a friends Stihl 201t. I was replacing the broken chain catcher and noticed the serial number.
The number could barely be made out, no indication of someone trying to remove it. Friend said "looks like it is written with a lead pencil "!
My 200t has a stamped number, wonder if all 201t are like this?

My 201t has the stamped serial number just like most of there saws. Have seen some that where not stamped as well as others.

Next time he brings it in, I will take a photo. At first glance, I thought it had ben filed/sanded away, but you can barely make it out with just the right lighting.
