Is there a secret to replacing the bronze plug? I took mine out and the replacement seems to just drop in way to easy.
-
When I've replaced them, they took some force to drive in. Last one I did, I put a thin skin of Threebond 1194 around the outside circumference to help secure it in place.
-
If it is that loose you may want to go the husky 372 vent method to replace or go the method Aaron mentioned on top of tank like the 3300 etc are.
Also make sure you didnt lose your duckbill behind oem.

measurements of the hole and plug:
Hole - .330"
Plug - .325"
I will take a look at the links. Thanks!

Wow. Yeah if it's that loose then doing one of those refits would be the way to go.

This is the thread I did on the vent retrofit. Basically consolidated posts and pics that I'd put in other threads...

Edit:
Just noticed that this is the same thread that Cut4Fun linked to above. His link went specifically to one of my posts within the thread...............rather than going to the first post. I didn't catch that earlier... :-\

I used a little black rtv to hold it in being careful to only get it on the edges. I hope it sticks. If not I will try your other method.

I hope the rtv you used is resistant to gas. Some of it is not.

I was thinking that too. Seal-All would have been my pick.

In the old days 60 yrs ago they would have probably used "Indian Head" Shellac.
But being in charge of a shellac production for a few years at the GE plant where I worked. It was made from shellac flakes, rosin, and denatured ethyl alcohol.
So guess what, gasohol will desolve Indian Head Shellac

My neighbor works on Mercedes. He gave me this to use: http://www.needswings.com/Mercedes-Engine-Sealant-RTV-003989982010.aspx
He said that it should hold fine, but time will tell.

I did pocket watch repair for about 35 years and the roller jewel is held in place with a small flake of shellac that is heated up and melted into place.

It looks like pretty good sealer, it probably will be fine.

Have any of you guys tried the ms200t tank vent kit for any of these saws. Have really no experience with poulan put just thought it could work. Will post a pic of the pieces.

The black nipple is .327 on the big end. The brass looking piece is to drive it in to the tank.

That tank vent is similar to what Echo uses.
