I traded for a John Deere 300 chainsaw. It is just a yellow Homelite 300.
Chain oiler is just barely oiling the chain with 18" bar.
I removed the oil pump when I did a repair and it was working.
Since the oiler has an adjustment screw, I reinstalled thinking it could be adjusted later. WRONG--the screw is not accessible!
Stupid that the oiler would have an adjustment that you can just barely see after removing the top cover of chainsaw. No way to use a screwdriver!
Since this IS a Homelite 300, how do you adjust the oiler. Remove engine from housing??

Does that saw saw have crankcase line (impulse) going I to the oil tank? If so that's considered an automatic oiler and likely would likely not have an adjustment?

Looked at the ipl and Re-read your post. Looks like the adjustment screw on the pump points up towards the top of the saw?

Yeah--under lower cooling fins of cylinder. I took a dermal grinder with a special home made extension to grind enough off the lower three fins, after removing the handles. I can now adjust with a 12" long screwdriver with 8" blade.
What a POS!

Hahahaha! Glad you got it sorted out, was going to suggest drilling through the fins. Funky design indeed.

Sort of reminds me of a Fiat X19 I had years ago. Couldn't figure out how to adjust the carburetor. Carburetor was between engine and rear end of car. No screwdriver I had would work, even one of the 90% gear drive.
I had a friend that worked on them and he told me I had to remove registration tag and drill a hole--and he gave me in inches, down and across from left tag mounting hole. He said Fiat dealers had to drill a hole.
It worked with regular screwdriver.

I've owned a few Italian cars, 850 coupe , X-19, and an Alfa Romeo. Fun to drive, all were a pain in the ass to wrench on.
