Title: Remington Rodeo Pro (RM5520R) 20 inch
Post by: JCortez3 on May 06, 2015, 12:13:54 am
I currently have a fairly new Remington 20 inch 55cc chainsaw I bought at a swap meet which i learned my lesson but the problem the guy said was it ran but was missing the muffler so I bought it dirt cheap and ordered a original muffler and gasket and installed it changed the gas to new gas bought new plug and cannot get it running it is getting great spark I could not get it to fire up so I just tried to focus on even getting it to kick back a bit but nothing not starting fluid not gas in plug hole nothing choke on choke off full throttle half throttle no throttle I am not sure if its getting gas I'm just focusing on getting it to make a little noise first much less run good the one thing I narrowed it down to was compression was not up there but could that keep it from even making a noise that it wants to start?

Did you look at the piston and cylinder when you had the muffler off. Not real sure how your model is setup could be a torn intake boot, leaking gasket on the intake block. I would also stay away from starting fluid. Use a little mix down through the carb. Is the plug wet after you spray it.

Check plug to see if wet or dry.    If dry put mix in a squirt bottle and spray though carb while holding throttle open. Then try to start.

I am thinking this is that China made saw that has many names in 55cc.  Craftsman, Troy-Bilt etc.

Manuals can be found here I think.
