Post by: Cut4fun . on May 20, 2015, 07:11:20 pm
Love this guys idea.   @Al Smith

Lawn Mower Chainsaw
Home made chainsaw using a lawn mower engine and a 36inch chainsaw blade. Used with a chainsaw mill to slab large logs.

That was pretty wild.   I would have liked to see more so the speed it was cutting could be determined.

Interesting but would be pretty slow.

I was kind of thinking the same thing.

Way I was looking at it. A  chainsaw mill is slow too.  Why tear up a high dollar chainsaw if you got a extra lawnmower motor laying around.

Even under heavy load a chainsaw will turn more than double the speed.

All I know is dad almost bought a used mill with a 10hp for entry level.   We both just couldnt justify it with the logs he would pull off his and my  land for projects.

I like the idea over using a chainsaw. Heck I just got a small mill in for chainsaw and sold it before using.  Prefer to split 50/50 with the mill owner right now for logs cut to lumber.

Until it breaks a rod.   Ask me how I know.
