Is this the same saw as the echo 550 evl?  http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/echo/john-deere-55/msg58542/#msg58542

Just wanted to confirm my earlier findings?

Hi Kevin,

550evl and 55ev are the same.  550vl and 55v are the same.

Carb should be a HDA-14B  K22-HDA.  Ignitions are the nemisis.  That module will fail (ask me how I know).  Hopefully not what you are up against.  I did get some odds and ends through Echo.  Some stuff is still available.

Good to know and Thanks.

Nope this one runs still and back out.  Just needed new bar and chain.  D176 and full 3/8 70DL.

Had another echo 550 evl in today. Thing looked like new still.

Ran fine and needed nothing I could find IMO. No charge and sent him back with saw.

44 mm (1.65 in.) bore
36 mm (1.42 in.) stroke

I would think they would lug pretty good for a small cc saw with that stroke.
