The winning 390 was thinking out of the box too.  Shame the guy ec is a thief in my book.

Never said he couldnt build a good saw if he wants too. But if he dont know you dont expect the same work.  ;)  Been known to put a turd or 2 out there.

Same thing that was done to my gas 5000 using external boost ports back in the day to win gtg's.

Who's the Joker in the video?

Guy he builds saws for it seems, has a bunch.  Seems like a good operator etc. Has solo's etc too.

Video says john reilly

I want to know more about Scott's Wild Thingy I was told it is his saw and got 2nd.

I love his paint scheme.

The Wild Thing was Scotts, and took part in the build off, but it finished way back in the pack, behind even my entry. Another 385 which had an engine done by Scott placed second.
This was my first build off competition, and I really enjoyed all parts of it!

Thanks for clarifying  that awol. That was going to be my next question if Scott had more then 1 saw there.

I still love the look of it.  WILD THINGY

I need to figure out what purple he used.  ;D  I missed it on my 2013 build.

I am fairly certain that the bar graphics were painted on.

Twas a lot better than finishing last! I pulled that saw out of a new box Monday morning, worked on it a bit, and gassed it for the first time on Friday before the gtg.

Looks like different bars, but we're the chains the same?
Title: Re: Wild Thingy
Post by: Cut4fun . on September 24, 2015, 04:19:11 pm
All chains were suppose to be the same off the roll chain.

You can see where the other 2 saws built by the winner were near the bottom and mid way by same operator. Boost ports and porting IMO make the difference in that winning cut along with operator. JMO.

Then you got shorthunter with a treemonkey Scott work saw that out cut the wild thingy by Scott.  Like to know more on that. Betting NOS made her super lean in cut.

Skippy had a Terry Landrum work saw.

My cut is not on the video above, and I don't think its on any of the vids.

All saw builds run that day fit in the rules. We all bought new Stihl RS chains off the same roll, provided by Randy, and ran them on our own bars.

The Wild Thingy saw had a 2mm stroked crank. The NOS bottle was for visual effect, and was not connected to the carb.

I was just kidding guys - compared to the actual 42cc Poulans I hop up a little extra displacement would be a help!

Couple of my buddies are like that with their 310 390 etc.

Another one used to run 036 till I turned him onto a 272. He calls it the Big Swede. Then I showed him the 181SE here and he wanted it. But I told Aaron he had dibs. Friend brought plenty of drink to try and get me to agree to sale though. But I was able to hold out. I did text Aaron though to make sure he still was committed back then.

Every time at work when I hear him going on about big swede. I go now you dont want me to get my poulan wild thing out do you.   :D

That does look like a LOT of work, makes me feel even better about where my saw placed after seeing the amount of work that went into the top placing builds.
Thanks for those pics Scott, I really enjoyed our all night campfire bs sessions that weekend!

Hey Scott..
Did you ever get to do any carb experimenting with the wild thingy?

And that pile of Mtn Dew cans just keeps getting bigger every time I see it.

Don't post here much, but if the first and second place hugs are shown, might as well show third, no?

A little 4 year bump .
A few weeks weeks ago in Myrtle Beach, S.C my kids and I went the Ripley's Believe It Or Not haunted house theme park.
I wish I had time to take a picture with my phone of the guy chasing us with a Poulan Wild thing at WOT..Lol.
After we got out of there I wondered if the saw was modified because it sounded pretty quick. Then I realized it didn't have a chain on it Hahaha....
