Woods dry/ hard willow. Same bar chain all saws. First Modded saw is an original small pin 044. Intake, exhaust and transfer work, cylinder wasn't machined on either mod saws.
Second modded saw has a newer ms440 case (slightly more case volume than early case) with NOS small pin crank and early cylinder with less exhaust and transfer duration, intake is about 160 on both.

Both were way better than stock. I liked the one without the stack best
-
Yep, I think it would pull a 28"+ better.
What's the deal with the early jug on a 12mm piston? Pin location bad?
-
Yes. Have to really look at ring ends. Still have never tried a 268 or 372 piston in one to get one center ring.
-
The one with the stack was pulling more RPM in wood eh? The 3rd one cleaned up in the cut nice but I bet it could go a bit higher in wood...

uh oh, i gonna have to tear this one back apart to check? this is not a KS, its a mahle 10mm with a 12mm meteor..............

Kevin, always fun hanging out with friends with the same interests. Spent a 2-3 hrs shooting ground squirrels with 22's in the afternoon after messing with some saws. My son and Mike were hitting the same squirrel unison on a couple of occasions... Too funny
BBQ'd some wild hog for tacos with a couple beers for a late lunch, nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon...

Sounds like a great time indeed.
-
It was a blast. Need to go shoot squirrels like that again.

Thanks for the invite... :(

Hahahaha, you've always got an open invite!

Very nice Adam. Good looking and good running saws
-
They seem to run pretty good. Thinking the small chamber in the early cylinder really makes the difference as the port timing and case volume differences are very small.
