Todays milling called for an abundance of rain! The rain guage says we had plenty, and I'm not a mud-miller.
Tomorrow is another day, and the ground will much more solid. And I can get the mill in-n-out without making ruts in this fellas yard. Still have a couple few oaks to slab at 6/4 thickness and I believe there was still three pine logs to make 2bys out of(I might be wrong on that count though).
Spoke to the customer this morning, and he is very pleased with the milling so far! Really like it when that happens....
When I was out there, I snapped a few photo's earlier in the day, but got a little caught up in the process and forgot to do the during photo stuff(sorry). The mill still has some growing pains, just things I'm not use to doing....but I am catching on quickly. And the timber is coming off quicker.

These are 'real' 2x4's! None of that Home Depot stuff for this customer.

The two oak logs I cut into 6/4 thickness slabs were awesome!

Very nice. I always thought it would be really neat to be able to cut your own lumber.

Sweet set up. Dad was thinking of buying a portable set up a guy he knows down the road. It was orange too.

You guys need a milling board?
Maybe a metal lathe and milling board too?

Wood milling/ wood working would be cool.
Maybe a metal machining board, lots of good machinist here, be cool to see some tricks of the trade, techniques

The mill is just another way for me to use my chainsaws!
Had the Randy-worked CS2095 w/22" set-up 'trimming' the bigger logs today, and the little MS250(that leaks bar oil all over the back of the truck) to knock the limbs and such off.
Milled roughly 865bdft today. It was a great workout! Better then any gym membership could give ya, and I make some extra cha-ching too!

I'm so busy bidding jobs and dealing with billing, etc that I rarely get to enjoy running saw anymore, so I've been setting up some Saturday jobs so I can get into the mix and bond with my workers. Still recovering from Saturday!! Lol

I've got bandsaw mill partially done .With Dars bad health until she passed and working 7 days a week that project is on the back burner .
That milling with a chainsaw is an option . I've done it and it's nothing but hard work .You can get some nice lumber though from stuff that normally would end up as firewood .

Chunk of Southern Red Oak....he wanted this one just slabbed at 7/4 and as wide as it would go.

This one was my 'practice log'.....wife has a scroll saw, and wanted some really wide pine at 2/4 thickness. That way after I run it through a planer, 1/4 to 3/8 finished thickness.
