Title: Husky 353G heated parts to a 346 case
Post by: wild262 on November 07, 2015, 11:23:26 am
Have a 353 case that's busted beyond repair.  Was wondering if I could transfer everything to a 346 NE case and make it work?  Far as I can tell the flywheel, wiring, carb. assembly and handlebar all work together as a unit for the heating elements.  Anyone out there ever done this before?  Bob, Niko, what do you guys think?  Sorta like to know for sure before I start tearing down 2 saws.  Many thanks  :)

OK.      I know what I will be doing tomarrow.  :D With all the treetops down from logging my 60 acres, its going to take all winter cutting them up.   Heated handles may come in handy.   Thanks to all of you.

I don't see any reason that shouldn't work, except the saws were made for a long time, so there is a slight possibility that something is incompatible. I would at least look trough the IPLs covering the time both saws were made.

Had to repair fence so I didn't get around to the saws.  Since both are the only 1 yr. apart, don't think it will be a problem.  But I will look just the same.  Thanks Niko.

Yes. A sore subject on how it happened.  Could be welded by a good magnesium welder I guess, or cobbled with JB, but whats the point?  Anyway its fixed now with everything converted over on a NE 346.  Just as good as it was with more power.  My arthritis will appreciate the heated handles. :)  A big thanks to all.

Here ya go Sawtroll !  These taken after I got it together the other day.  Pretty straight forward but the wiring was somewhat of a pain around the carb.  I just followed how I took it off mostly.  This will be my workhorse when it gets cold.
Sawtroll, do you burn wood over there on the other side?

Don't see a lot of Birch around here.  I have mainly oak, hickory, hedge and locust.  As far as the saws go, the 353 was a 2005, and the 346 is a 2011.  I looked at the 346 wrong when I said they were only 1 year apart.  Went together OK though.  We are  deer hunting up here in Missouri this weekend, so not cutting much till I tag out.  Go a nice 9 pt. this morning.

Letting dad have all the fun with bow hunting the big guy on my land.

If you are able to post pics of your deer etc we have a thread. http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/rec-room/fishing/

Apparently it doesn't matter that it is a mix of "OE" and NE saws then (the cutoff in production was week 19 or so 2007). Useful info.  ;D
