Just had a stihl 211 dropped off having some issues. I popped the cover while they were there and ask them, so how long you been running this saw without the air filter and who was the last person to service it? :-X
Local stihl dealer did a carb retune under warranty was last time in they said.

Yep nothing like this under there. :o

I don't get it. How do you forget an air filter.
-
I called them and told them I got the on/off switch fixed. But I dont want to touch the carb issues. Told him to take it back to dealer and see if they will make it right with them.
They should be the ones checking the issues over. It did feel ok starting and psi wise. Carb was still fubarred tune wise IMO. They need to be checking the piston etc IMO too.
I took pics of the carb area.

Wow that thing looks like it sucked in a bunch of junk.
-
The filter just amounts to being a cover for the whole air box?
-
Yeah, pretty good.
Just getting ready for a long winter.....
-
Hi Fish.
-
Getting ready for winter too Fish. Got the t-post in for snow fencing.
They picked up the 211 this evening, cant wait to here the dealer wiggle around on getting out of this one. Hope they step up and do them right like the guy with the 311 and his missing air filter.
I for one always double check others work once I get home, dealer or not. Once before a trip I was in hurry and had a new truck of mine back in early 90's oil changed. Got home and it showed 1 quart over full. :o

Just had a 21 dropped off and IMO just a carb adjustment needed. Owner complaint. Start up hit throttle it dies. I am betting to lean L.
What kind of plastic stops are on these newer saws like the 211? Removal-able or trim plastic tab etc? They look black around H and L from my quick look see.
-
Seems to have full L adjustment. Was able to take out the dying on WOT by opening the L up and no bogs after warm. Will test tomorrow to make sure on a cold start.
Man I love the easy start on these. 8)

Test on cold start today. Just a hair of a bog still but didnt die like before. Opened the L up some more and seems real good now aka perfect and turned the I idle up some to make up for it.
So test on cold start tomorrow to see.
Just glad to have full adjustment on the L. 8)

Tested today and perfect to my liking cold start and when warm. Great throttle response now with no hesitation. Owner will be a happy camper IMO.
