Title: MS 290 oiler.
Post by: 3000 FPS on November 11, 2015, 03:13:06 pm
I am working on this MS290 because the screws for the oiler came out and broke the crap out of everything.   On top of the oil pump is an elbow that comes off and I believe it attaches to the case for the oiler hole.   Is there suppose to be some kind of nipple coming off the case for that elbow to attach to.   Right now looking at what I have is just a flat shoulder with a hole in it and it looks like something was broken off.   Parts list does not show that area in detail.
A pic would be great but if not then just someone verifying what I am thinking.

I just did this. There is a nipple  on top right where it slides onto to leads to bar mount area.

Didnt get pic of that area.

That white top right piece slides over it on the case bar bar mount area. It hides up under there.

Thanks Kevin you just confirmed what I suspected that it is broken off.    Looks like you have to replace the entire case to fix this.    I think I am returning this one to the owner.   Oiler broken, elbow broken, worm gear, bottom half of crankcase, and now the plastic case.

Can you see it in this pic Roger. White - Black o-ring - white pretty sure that was it.  Looks little different then the 029 super I just did.

I ended up fixing this saw.    I bought a used case off of ebay and I just finished putting it together last week.   It has been sitting in my basement all this time in a 100 pieces.   Saw does run good and oils just fine.   Just like I thought and thanks to kevin for showing where that elbow connected that was broken off.
