Title: PS PS3 test
Post by: Cut4fun . on December 24, 2015, 04:15:04 pm
Since the stock chains were only tested near knots and used to cut big block areas off too. That way the clear wood was for the chains sent in.

Want me to test the 2 new PS PS3 stock chains in clear wood.   Could use the echo 3900 39cc then the echo 4500 45cc that is like the OE 346 in the cut.

Go for it.  I would think they are close to one another.

I was surprised to see that the stock PS3 chain was a tad faster than the stock PS chain.

Them bumpers don't slow it down when the tip is exposed. There's other variables like the teeth on that stuff as well.

Never did do back to back cuts. But here they were in the last chain build off on a dozerdan woods ported 026.

That PS3 seems to be a really special loop I made up off a ole reel from 2011.   Same cant at different ends.

It is weird that chain is that fast. I guess that shows the difference in wheels and who was watching the machine making the chain.

The PS3 was run then SF's round and then his SQ, Then my 2. So they are were in the same wood of about 1.5' to 2' worth. Just that ps3 loop extra special.

I know when I made loops from that roll for folks and their small saws like poulans etc. They would be like wow cuts like butter.

For what it is worth, TriLink ('OOO') is now advertising a full chisel, 3/8" low profile, 'professional' chain now.
Not sure who stocks it, but it was in some of the trade magazines.

Is that trilink the same chain with different name of the other one I have in a 3/8LP thread by name Archer?

'Somewhere' (on some forum or thread)  in the last month or so I was trying to reference this chain.  Found this ad in a pile of stuff I was clearing out.  Could not find that thread, so I will post it here.

I'll try that chain if it's cheap enough.  I have a 92dl loop of TriLink 3/8" semi-chisel (not LP) that came to me on a Homelite SXL925.  Cut well for semi and stayed sharp a long time in oak.  Seemed to be as good as Oregon semi chisel 3/8 pitch chain.

For 3/8LP I usually run Oregon 91VXL as it works well on my little Poulans, and is usually much cheaper than Stihl chain.

I love Oregon 76LG (basically a 3/8 pitch chain with lighter drivers and side plates, with somewhat smalller cutters for smaller saws) on my 41-46cc Homelite Super E-Z and Poulan 4620 type saws.  Unfortunately, it has dried up, as racers have grabbed all they can for stripping to use parts from when assembling race chains (using the 76 drivers and side plates with regular 3/8 pitch cutters).

I had a line on 25' or so of 76LG with presets from a guy on AS (and elsewhere).......but we lost contact for a while and he 'forgot' about me and sold it.  DAMMIT.

In any case, this tall TriLink 3/8LP chisel might be a good replacement for my 'larger' small saws.  A041 and K041 bars are available in LP, and can be modified for use on my Super E-Z's.  I hate .325 pitch...

Dangit.  No mention of that full chisel 3/8LP chain on their website.  Just Semi...

Thanks Kevin.  That's probably the same chain as the TriLink stuff.  I'm going to give it a shot.

Hmm...

Just priced things out (based on your posts in the Archer LP thread).  Doesn't really pencil out for me.  Maybe I'll luck out on some leftover 76LG somewhere...........

76LG is full 3/8 with small cutters.  I have a 72dl 76dl or 84dl loop.  What are you needing?

Yep.  .325 pitch zized cutters on non-LP 3/8 pitch chassis.  Great for smaller saws that don't easily adapt to 3/8LP.   Just the ticket for a Homelite Super E-Z, Husky 242XP, or Poulan 4620/Husqvarna 40.

I run 59 and 60 DL loops of 76LG on those saws.  Still bent about loosing out on that 25' reel.....

Funny that my previous post above was my 2100th on this board................................in a teeny chain thread (114cc Homelite 2100, 99cc Husqvarna 2100CD, and 99cc Husqvarna 2100XP.

This post is my 2101th  (99cc Husky 2101XP).

Geek in me just noticed this right after I posted... 8)
