Hi Everyone, new here. I am working on a Stihl MS271 and need some help. This saw starts ok and runs for a second and then dies. I replaced the carb with a new carb (aftermarket) and it does the exact same thing. Then I rebuilt the old carb using parts from the new carb and it does the exact same thing. Then I rebuilt the new carb and put it back together and it does the exact same thing. Next would be to buy a Stihl carb and try that, but I fear it will do the same and it is very expensive to find out.
I have not yet tried a new plug, new fuel line and filter, new tank vent. I will if I need to, but they all seem to be ok. I tried to run it with the gas tank cap half way open to see if the vent was the issue and it still died out right away. I do have pressure as when I removed the carb with out opening the tank first gas just pours out the fuel line. I don't have a pressure tester to check the fuel line for small leaks.
Not sure what to do except start ordering parts as above? Any ideas?
Thanks!!

He already eliminated that possibility. I would suspect a bad fuel or impulse line.

I'm also inclined to say impulse line. I've had several over the last couple of years that would start with the choke on, then die immediately as soon as I gave it some throttle and the choke clicked off. In every case the impulse line had either come off or it had deteriorated and wasn't supplying the impulse to the carb. As long as the carb was on choke, the saw could pull enough fuel through to start, but there was no impulse signal to the pump to keep it running.
