Title: Older Oregon bar mount patterns
Post by: old 040 on February 11, 2017, 05:21:44 am
Wanted to see if anyone has any listings, pics or even a link to an old thread that would hold this info, I'm waiting on an earlier Oregon application guide I bought off the bay yesterday that may or may not have what I'm looking for, I know there's some multi mount patterns missing from the guide I have now, mount pattern 006 comes to mind, there are others, any help would be great.

Tried here. http://www.acresinternet.com/cscc.nsf/673d78ec01557aea88256b00005457e6/e39f46cf37dbe4a088256e0d0051dd49?OpenDocument

I know I had a bunch of older mount stuff about 10 years ago. But that puter is no longer with me.

Yeah, I have most of all the mounts listed on Mikes site, trying to find the earlier five digit and some of the other odd numbers/letters that had been used.

Very eager to see what you come up with Mark.

I still have that VI-123 we were discussing earlier.  If you're still interested in it let me know.  I'd forgotten about it until I saw your posts here...

Thought I'd bump the thread....Since starting this thread the earliest application guide other than my early/mid 50's Oregon guide that I've come up with is from 1985, it does have many more of the multi mount patterns and some more of the oddball mounts which helps, but has no cross reference for the older 5 and 6 digit bar numbers, nor does it give a reason for the multi mount patterns, so I guess I'm on the lookout for a 70's application guide, these 5 and 6 digit bar codes must be from that time period, maybe even mid/late 60's.

Well having the day off today and that it was a rather blah day out I dug through some old chainsaw litterateur that I bought last fall off eBay, it was a mixed bag of all sorts of stuff including some Oregon application guides, I was hoping one from the right time period would be in the mix and have the old number system that Oregon used, I shuffled through the pile when it showed up back then and the earliest guide was dated 1981 and still used the current numbering system, I passed by several others that I already had or anything above that date figuring it would be the same as my others, I passed over a 1983 guide back then and today for the heck of it I looked through it, nearly fell over when I looked at the pricing section as it shows pricing as well as old to new numbers for the bars at that time, it does show many of the old to new numbers, bout time, I still can figure out why zero 1970's guides ever show up on the bay :-\.....soooo anyone that has an old bar needing info I'd be happy to look it up for you....again, it's shown in the 1983 application guide, yes, I checked eBay and none listed at this time, one did sell just a couple months ago...... ;D

Thanks for sharing those.
That 1968 Oregon catalog is a classic. Man I'd love to have some of those accessories and sawchain they sold back then.
How about that filing vise, looks alot better quality then the copies today. Chisel bit chain in 9/16 5/8 and 1/2". Looks like they got cast cutters not the punched out stuff today.
2.5" roller noses in .050 I could use a few of those. Shims in .050 .058 .063 great for hammering rails.
I still do have one of those adjustable depth gauge jointers. When you think of it jointer is the proper term.
