Title: Pulp Wooding SE Georgia 1952
Post by: 660magnum on June 09, 2017, 11:21:05 pm
Chain saws were not too much of the scene yet in 1952. I was 6 when this was made so I was younger than the young boy.

I remember those trucks didn't have finders or doors back then. But otherwise the movie is as I remember those days. Now the loblolly pines are delivered full length to the sawmill 1st and they try to yield a board or two out of the tree then they chip the rest before it goes to the OSB plywood or paper mill. The boards are mostly used as pressure treated lumber.

Just for the record, other forms of modern day logging but no chainsaws.
