Not a MS462 but a picture of my new MS261CM, which to me is the small version of the MS462.
Really liking this saw with its engineering ingenuity. Best ever master control switch, 1 piece top cover with 1/4 turn screw locks, no primer bulb and a canister HD air filter that also has a 1/4 turn screw on/off just to mention a few features.
First new Stihl for me (besides my MS200s) that I bought in 25 years when I bought my 1992 066 Arctic magnum.
Here's a pic of the 261 on a job site the other day. Outfitted with the 16" 63PS b/c 261 Tuning Kit.
Last pic shows some work a neighbouring beaver is doing hahaha.

I'm getting more hours on both the 261 and 550.
The 261 revs just as good or better then the 550.
I'll put a tach on both when their fully broke in.
Little 261 is starting to sound like that MS462 in the German introduction video.

I was in the same boat at first mdavlee, I looked at the MS241 too but I could see it's still old technology with no upgrades like the MS261. Plus the 241 is made in Virginia Beach, the 261 in Germany which means something to me.
The 261 powerhead is light, really light for a 50cc saw that can handle a 20" b/c no problem. I prefer the 16" setup on a 50. Super ergonomic and light especially with the 63PS setup.

Nicely designed air injection.

Just got to run a stihl 261 OE old style one 11lb 14oz. Little heavier then I like in this size saw. But they fixed that with the NE type 261. Much lighter.
Saw ran great in the cuts.

Kevin, that's good to see what your scale shows, gives me more faith in Stihl's weight specs.
10 lbs 14 oz on your scale is 10.875 lbs. Stihl claims 10.803. Close enough for me.
I since quit using the 63PS chain on my 261 doing treework, just not enough filing life as the 23RS.
If I was straight logging in clean spruce yeah the Picco would make me money on piecework but doing urban work there's just too much metal and other crap in the wood.
Got the 261 finally muffler modded, made a big difference in spool up and top end power.
Gutted out the outlet to almost double size also getting rid of the internal ledge for the screen. Cut down a 372XP screen and screwed it down on the outside inside the deflector to hold it in place.
Ran it without the screen and felt it just made that much more noise and dropped off abit in power. So got the screen back in. Just like adjusting the stinger length on a tune pipe, lol.
Here's 2 pics, not the neatest job with the die grinder working around and underneath the deflector. But I needed the saw the next morning on a big job. If I had the time I would have drill out the spot welds and removed the deflector first then braze it back on after the outlet mod.

Cool, looks like a beautiful spring day to have some sawing fun. Great looking group of sawyers and saws there!
I got a nice accurate table top scale too but only goes up to 11 lbs .

Stihl 261 OE in for chain not turning. Runs just wont go. Not chain brake either already checked that. ;)

Well it has to be the clutch or the bar and chain. One or the other.

Everything to do with that was compacted with fines. Around clutch, inside clutch drum, rim, bar groove etc etc. Just needed a good cleaning. Labor is labor $ and easy one at that. Like 30mins total.
