This 066 was woods ported by Brent Combs with no de-comp older cylinder on poly fly crankcase. best of both worlds. Working it get a 32" and 25", here is the 16" with a good chain. Only 14K and a 8T.

I ran that hotrod before it passed hands and stalled that powerfull pot licker in a cut .Hard to believe it but I did it .Wow that was what 4-5-6 years ago .Time flies and I loose track of it .

I was at gtg 06 so it was 05 or before if same saw. But talking to Brent I think this saw was built after that gtg.
Brent said there are a bunch of his 066's out there.

Might not be the same one .The one I stuck though he had ran the best time of the day with it in 0-100

Wonder how this saw would have held up today with it's old school porting compared to the new stuff out there today.
Nothing fancy, stock piston and WV woods port that has been used on work saws for ever by Brent's family. This is the same saw someone else laid claim to porting when I was buying it :o. ;) Brent Combs ported it :P.

I don't know if the so called modern method is any better than old school or what it was 8-10 years ago .The same principles apply but the methods differ .
I think what differs is high exhaust porting might be out and torque might be in .

Lately, high compression, getting exhaust close to 100, and epoxy to get the intake down in the 78-ish area has shown to produce long bar torque and add some fuel economy to the 066/660 platform. It will probably lose a cant race, but cant be beat for a long bar work saw
Some fuel economy, not an earth shattering amount, but there is a difference

I still cant imagine putting liquid steel stuff in my intake in a WORK saw. No way for me.

They been holding up fine for years ..............

Only necessary on the new 660 cylinders so you can do what you could to an 066 cylinder without any issue.

My 2 ported ones was the older no decomp cylinders. 1 ran so good a so called builder in Ohio was wanting it for its numbers. Has them in his little black cheat sheet book now too and calls it his own. ::)

Most of us by now know that the so called numbers mean very little without things like shape, port time area open relative to speed etc .
You know they high port the things and they go like crazy in a piece of damp cottonwood .Stick it in a piece of oak and it falls on it's face .What did that prove ?

I would imagine port mapping was done Al. I gave them the saw for a week or so to get info from. OK'ed by guy that ported it.
