Title: mac 10 oil pump gasket updated model
Post by: pete on June 28, 2017, 07:13:39 am
Have any fellow collectors out there got any NOS updated 10 series oil pump gaskets for sale The ones I am talking about seem to be made of rubber or similar compound i have found some on ebay at 13 dollars au which is fine but I balked at the 30 dollars au for postage I sent the seller a message asking about postage but did not get a reply. I have 2 promac 850s which are sucking bar oil into the cylinders causing hydralock. I have dug through some parts saws and found the updated spring clip that was used with these single screw oil pumps but would like to upgrade the gaskets, thanks if anyone can help

I'm not certain if all 10 series use the same gasket .If memory serves for example the 700 and the 850 pumps are slightly different . I'll look up the numbers when I get time .
However it might not be the gasket as those pumps have a tendency to pass oil into the crankcase as they age .Most it's just a little puff of white smoke on a start up .Others it might develop  into a hydra lock

Those are listed in about 6 places. Sure you cant find some closer?

You need part number 92818 pump seal(gasket)  for 10-10A Sp 81,800 805 Sp 850 and 850 super .The 700 might be the same but it showed a different part number . BTW I've shipped stuff to Oz .A few years back by US Airmail a small package was 4 dollars US and took 4 days to get there .Going from OZ to Ohio it was 7 dollars  Australian money .

will look around for a few more days locally but so far no luck when i pulled one of the 850s down still had the paper gasket had not had the upgrade fitted and the leak had lead to visible scoring on the piston and a carbon deposit in the exhaust port. I have found a couple of old saws that have the upgrade kit which is a piece of spring steel that puts pressure on the pump in these 1 bolt pumps so would like to get a couple or so of the later rubber style gasket

I can check with an aquaintence for you . I know that he has got a lot of nos mcculloch stuff . I'm certain that he has complete oil pump kits . Let me know . He can be a bit hard to approach ,so it may take a while . But ,I did just locate a carb rebuild kit for his 797 ,and gave it to him . So, I think he'll be fairly easy to deal with :) .

It's only the updated gasket that I am after according to an old post of Mc Bobs that I found the 850s received an update kit which was a rbber gasket and a spring steel piece I have a couple of the steel bits from parts saws

Just had a thought ... If I can't locate the gasket , you might try Sugar Creek Supply . He makes gasket for nla items . That's where I found the kit for the 797 carb . He is on facebook . His business address is : sugar creek supply  12224 Silver lane ,Sugar Creek  Mo.64054
If you can supply a pattern ,he can likely make it .

cheers that would be great  I was looking at gotfishon  on ebay but they are the repro paper ones  for the rest of the 10 series they have a lot of good gaskets but want 18 dollar au  for a 2oz  envelope I questioned them on shipping and that was their reply  They Have a lot of great stuff listed so probably will bite the bullet and order a bunch of stuff as it costs the same according to the listings. I wish chainsawlady Joyce was a Mac dealer because she is brilliant when it comes to postage whatever it costs her thats what you pay.

Unless the fees have changed at least at one time flea bay sellers did not pay a fee to e bay for shipping charges .Some of them tried to kind of recoup their fees by over charging on shipping .I just plain don't buy from them ,simple as that .

Thanks john Got your messages and thank you very much   Just over a dollar for postage Shows you just how bad some ebayers are when it comes to postage. I was hoping my son could get me some stuff while he has been in Seattle retraining on the c17 but he flies home to Oz on tuesday so I missed that opportunity. I did not think about that possibility early enough to take advantage of it :(

I was surprised when the lady at the post office said what it would cost to mail it as well . But then , we get hit here for some pretty out of line  shipping charges from some companies . But almost $30 for something that can't weigh an ounce ... that's robbery . I'll keep an eye out for a second gasket . Let me know when you get yours .

Hi Pete, in my macs there seems to be two types of pumps/gaskets...one has paper gasket ..other "made in Japan' pump has rubber wedged shaped gasket.

Thanks Dave ol Mcbob  explained to me a long while back they came out originally with the paper gasket but the 1 bolt pumps began to leak oil into the cylinders so they upgraded to the rubber one with a curved metal piece to go at the back to put pressure on the pump and hold it in place.
