Title: Jonsered 2260
Post by: Cut4fun . on January 10, 2012, 03:10:19 pm
2260 = 560xp and 2258 = 555 from what I hear.

New video, other one was removed.

I certainly don't need another saw, but I gotta have one of them.  ;D

Those look much nicer than the 560 and 562 to me.

Surely - it's a pity they have that streigh across handlebar........ ::)

I prefer that straight handle for most use. When limbing a lot the angle is a little better.

The difference in felling and bucking is minor, but it is a big issue for limbing, imo!   ;)

Most hardwood in my part of the country doesn't have a lot of little limbs so the handle doesn't really matter as much. Much of the limbing is actually bucking smaller wood. Anything under 3" is trash and left to be pushed up by the tractor or dragged into a pile to burn later.

Doesn't look like we are going to see these saws this year here in the US. My rep told me that the 2156/2159 are going to be in production "through the fall". And there's never any model overlap with those guys, so the 2258/2260 won't appear until the old models are gone.

No big deal for me really. This size saw has never been a big seller as most guys in my area don't see a need for anything in between the 2153/346 and 2172/372. But if the 2153 hangs around for a while after the 346 is replaced by the 550XP that might not be such a bad thing, as the 346 is always my #1 or #2 seller every year. But............ I'm told the 550 has more power and less weight than the 346.  8)

Looks like those differences are marginal....

Yes, they are small improvements in and of themselves. But a significant contrast to a competitive brand that saw it's top 50cc class saw gain some weight with it's recent redesign.  ;)

Surely it is, as Husky is the only brand that manage to develop thing in the right direction!   ;D

The 2156 is now discontinued and removed from the most recent Jonsered price list. (07/15/12) My guess is that we will see the 2258/2260 before too long here in the US. My gut feeling is by October, but I have nothing concrete to go on.

From pics we've seen, I think the overall shape of these new saw chassis work better in the Jonny colors than on the uskys. Not just the colors, but the way the starter "continues" into the top cover has a more integrated look to it.

That is good. The 2260 might be a lighter version of the 562.

The IPL's are up for both the 2258 and 2260 and they share the crankcase and bar guide plates. So it's safe to assume that the 2260 does have the small mount bar, and that it will be a little lighter than the 562.

Still no hard info on when we'll see them.

It is the 560xp, so that's true. They have been out for a while here, but I have a 560xpg, so I don't need another.  ;)

I think I would be better off with a 2250 than a 550. It will be next year probably before the 550 makes it in red.

I tested the 2260. It ran as the 560, not much different other than I like the colors better.

They have same problems as the 560.

What problems are they having with them over there?

Same issues as the rest in this series, probably same as in US, irregular, hard start hot and in some cases cold.
Cooking, bearings blown....

Smaller stuff is shaking of...

Production/Delivery for 2260 is stopped.

Any word when in the US with the Jred change of guard?

Whatever the date? I'm thinking the original date has come and passed?

That date within itself is misleading as it will take more than another 6 months to get all the wheels realistically turning in the supply line where it runs smoothly and everyone is stocked.

Well, they have finally appeared on a price sheet, and I have actually ordered a dozen of them. Now of course, when I'll actually see them is another matter.  I figure it could be another month or two.  :'(

At least we know that as they are building fresh product, they will have all of the updates/improvements right out of the box.

Maybe they'll appear by the end of next month. What kind of bars are you going to be getting with Jonsereds now?

They were building them over there before they came out with all of the updates, so all of those early problems were shared between the Red and Orange cousins. Since they are just now building what we will see here in the US......................some day......................we should be fine.

For the folks not liking the mesh filter that comes on the jonsered 2260 stock. There is 3 different filters offered. 2 mesh and 1 flocked.
