Back in May, I joined this forum because of a problem with my 056. I received a lot of help and then my schedule was upended and the saw was put on the back burner. Obviously, I'm back at it.
Here are the facts:
The Saw needs an Ignition Module
The Stihl Dealer gave me the following part number, 11084000800
Now I need to find a used one of these or someone with a new one. Going through the dealer would be an astronomical amount of money. I think they do this so one has to buy a new saw?
I also am wondering if any of you know where I can see a blow-up parts diagram or service manual so I can take it apart correctly.

I you would like to try a fix for the module a member on another site has it figured out.
The link to the actual fix is on page three starts with post #51. I think the capacitor is listed a bit earlier. Good stuff there and it doesn't look too tough.

Check your messages for a link to an 056 service manual.

I didn't look up the IPL but if it is the internal type that sets under the flywheel I think it's the same as a Husqvarna 2100 .At any rate there are several on flea bay but they aren't cheap .

I did download the manual and purchased the fuses for the ignition module hack. Time is just so rare where I can isolate myself (in a warm) environment and settle into this project. I need to be undisturbed and work S l o w l y. I will have to find again the YouTube Video or perhaps I added it to my YouTube site.

I have seen people claim in the past that you can simply replace the electronic half of the Bosch module with a cheap $20 aftermarket module and they work,but I wonder for how long? We tried that in our shop in the mid 80's,my buddy hacksawed the electronic half off a dead one and installed a $7 Atom module,and it had spark and ran. We figured we were geniuses,we just fixed a $200 ignition with a $7 part.
So we fixed a few worksaws that way,but our glee did not last for long,they all failed soon and we had some pretty angry guys in our shop!It seems like the Bosch igntions have magnets all the way around the flywheel,unlike most which just have magnets on one spot on the flywheel,and this kills the little units quickly. Maybe some of the new units survive now,but I would not try that path again on someone else's saw.
