Title: NWP Big Bore Piston & Cylinder Kit
Post by: pigpen60 on September 26, 2017, 03:06:43 pm
Has anyone used one of these kits? NWP Big Bore Piston & Cylinder Assembly (54mm) for Dolmar 7900, Makita 6401, Solo 681 Chainsaws
What are your opinions? What parts are required to use on a ps-6400?

my opinion is skewed a bit since i am a dolly/makita dealer but IMHO most of the ones you see arent worth the money. most places they run from $125 and up plus shipping when an OEM Mahle cylinder kit can be had for $200 shipped. There is no performance advantage to them, yes they are bigger bore and therefore more displacement but the transfers get tiny because of that and they just wont flow enough to take advantage of the extra displacement. Then you have the typical quality issues of a chinese P&C plus the rings are crap. All in all its just a better bet to spend a little extra to get an OEM cylinder kit.

Kind what I was thinkin. I saw a p/c with the hood and decomp. for 200 somewhere and I think it had free ship.

Is there anything else you need to do the job?
