I have bought five aftermarket cylinder kits this year for my saws, one was Cross Performance for a 660, one was Hyway for Husky 350, one was Farmertec, and the other two were just no name Chinese. All of them needed work, the Hyway had keepers for a bigger piston pin. Hyway and Cross were prettier but still needed work.
My question is are the OEM ready to bolt on? or do they need work too? Not talking about porting, just a stock build.
Maybe dumb question but I still want to know.

I have never had an OEM PC kit that needed work to install. Somebody else may but I haven't.

Well I was just wondering, I would have thought the cross and hyway wouldn't and they may could have been used but I didn't want to. Ports around were the rings travel were rough.

stock oem never had to do anything
wont use other rings unless oem or caber. Only time I try other afm rings or circlips is testing in my own saws. Otherwise oem circlips too.

I just put a top end, oem P&C kit on an Echo 670. The kit came with the rings, pin, circlips, a bearing and a gasket. Went on toot sweet. Rebuilt the carb and on its way it went. Nothing extra needed.

A friend of mine was building a hot 460 Stihl,wanted my help and had a new aftermarket piston and cyl.,I'd never saw one of these before but wow,the ports were really badly cast,terrible,it took more work just to clean them up that the actual porting work. Probably fine for a stock replacement,but I agree,I would not risk cheap rings,I would replace them with factory.
