Anyone know off hand the last year the husqvarna 385xp was made?
-
Last 385 IPL dated 2006 and first IPL for 390 2006.
-
I thought it was 2008. Most places didn't have 390 until 2007 at the earliest.
-
Guy I know that cuts big wood selling one.

No clue here, could be. I was just looking at IPL dates.
-
Guy said he has a 2008 385 in his shop right now on CR G
Up there where your thinking Mike. Guy also said the IPL only changes when there has been a update or change. to a model
-
I like them. They oil a little better than a 7900 or is just use one of them and skip to 084.
-
Dont know if I want to jump up to that weight PHO just for 1mm more stroke. Yep it has gotton like that for my ole azz now. Freaking saws getting heavy to haul around in the woods down on my land.
37mm stroke right? with 54mm bore
84.738cc
compared to my lighter weight 505
36mm stroke 54mm bore
82.448cc
Dang closer in weight then I thought. :o No wonder I thought my dang saws were getting heavy :D :D

2003 385xp full wrap and half.
Guy I know is going back to the 395. He runs ported 394, 3120, 2100 and getting a 395. Run them dropping bigger stuff. So I got it from him to help him get the 395
Want to compare to my 1mm shorter stroke PP505 with same bore
-
I’m gonna watch this 1 - been thinking about building a stroker 2083 with a 55mm topend

All I got is small wood right now in ash and pine cants. Like to find a bigger log even if pine.
-
To cool. Guy that came over with 385 today. Got back with me after he bought a 395. He said a friend of his wants to get rid of some pine he dropped 12"-24" and 12' logs. Said he would bring them buy and drop them off. 8) 8)
I'm like heck yeah test wood is test wood.

Went through the new to me 385 and all checked out. Only thing missing was right side fastener for brake handle. Found one in my misc bin. I quit pulling it over after it hit 150psi. Looks like new inside looking through plug hole. So didnt pull muffler.
Being I only have small dry ash on hand to test for now. 3/8 8T and 16" LOL

Husqvarna dealer from GA Onan18 says
Between the 385 and 390 I would pick the 385 all day every day. The timing numbers and port shapes were almost perfect from the factory because it was designed from day one to be what it was. The 390 was more of an afterthought "We have to get in the 90cc class to compete with the MS 660" so it is essentially a factory big bore and they had to compromise on the port shapes to make room for the larger piston. Also, while 1mm does not sound like much, the 390 piston is MUCH HEAVIER than the 385 piston. As a result the 390 is known for killing cranks, in as little as one year in commercial duty even with decent care and good oil.

Got these ready for sat morning if able to get out. Icing pretty bad and dropped 26 degrees since morning. Was called for for a guy needing help with a big ash down.
-
Finally got the recall for the cutting. So I could test the 385 and 505 out.
Tree I started on 32" didnt reach across last 2 cuts. Pretty wood. Was told ash but I dont know about that. 2nd tree was ash.
I worked on 1st tree and after I finished mine up. Went and finished the other tree for the other guy that was cutting with 272 036. He said you cut little faster then I am used too. He was still on the small end. :P
385 stock impressed me with 32" full skip. 505 had 28" full comp and it to impressed me being on its first tanks since topend rebuild.
I came to the conclusion I will be able to sell the 385 in the future soon. 505 does all I need done.

Husqvarna 390xp come in late last night with 24" and 32". Looking for stock saw specs to save.

Me likey when a new customer = homeowner firewood cutter shows up with this. 2014 husky 390. He said he runs 24" most time and has a 32" too.
I threw my 24" bar and chain on it for test and tune session.

Brand new husqvarna 390xp

What in the heck did that saw ingest.

What in the heck did that saw ingest.
390's in 2017 and 2020 had pistons installed backwards. Between certain serial numbers. Hit miss if you got lucky.
-
Sharing pics of another one from 2017 batch.
Trevor Saville
Kevin Smith 5K units in various serial number blocks. Per an employee at big orange. It was bad that it happened the first time now it is borderline insane for something that is over $1,000 price point. It shows that they are not ran at the factory. I'll never brand bashing but I must say the creamsicle brand does run every single one of their pro saws to verify everything passes, on the assembly line. No company is perfect no employee is perfect but if you're going to have a screw up make sure it doesn't leave the factory and get into the hands of the consumer.🤨

Working on a $20 2004 husqvarna 385xp local bought from coworker that been setting in shed for years as non runner no spark.
Has spark after he cleaned that up. But floods out.
Pulls darn near 160psi.
New carb rebuild kit, Tilley 296a. New rim, new fuel filter, new plug. Runs fine. Needs a new bar and chain IMHO came in with 20".
Needs a rear av anti-vibe replaced, broken and throttle cable plastic clip. One side broken and need to order those.
Never seen the rear handle side covers worn down like that before.
rear av 537017901
plastic carb cable piece.

Dealer said he sold 385's = I just looked, I sold some 385s that were built 2009 week 26.
So that goes with some info earlier.

Found it in a different IPL
Husqvarna 503684101. Cool same as 372 etc. Figures 🤣

Just in case someone else runs into this down the road. RK-23HS didnt come with the short needle for this carb.
I had to use the needle from RK-28HS kit. Only thing I found different between these 2 kits was the needle and pump diaphragm. 28 came with both needles.
