Title: Forum colors change or like as is?
Post by: Cut4fun . on January 16, 2012, 01:44:39 pm
Do you guys like the basic colors used on this site? Seems easy on the eyes to me.

I have about 12 other colors I could use, but it would make it DARK black back grounds with white words and orange , blue, red etc for sub forum letters and titles or to LIGHT and BRIGHT with use of reds, greens, bright blues  IMHO.

Do you like the way  it is and just leave it alone for us simple folk?

Compacted the chainsaw boards to make the scrolling down less for us.   Good or bad idea?  Feedback because this site is for all to use and help each other out.

Any changes that might make the site easier to use etc?  Within my limited puter compatibilities.

There is all kinds of changes I could make but I'm afraid I will screw up the script commands and never get it back right.  :-[

I wouldn't mind having the poster's location show up in the poster info section on the left.

I wouldn't mind having the poster's location show up in the poster info section on the left.

Thats been there since I started the site last year and I do not feel making it mandatory is necessary JMO. . It is voluntary and all you need to do is add the info there if you wish.

Right under post count.  Under forum profile  just add info to  Personal Text.  Look at mine I did it to show you.

You can also add location in location section and people will see location when they click on your name.  I see yours is Vermont, just add to personal text to make show up under post count if you like.

I agree, and was not suggesting it be mandatory.

I've had my location filled in in the "location" field on the forum profile, and wondered why it wasn't showing up. I didn't think about filling in the "Personal Text" field. Got it now.

Howdy.  Thanks for creating the site. Well laid out, lots of insight.  One comment: it is difficult to read the characters of text which is on top of the background picture of wood chips or the like.  ie: the page numbers of the forum.  Is it possible to put a contrasting background behind those small regions? Cheers, Ken  ;D

Thanks for your input.

Page numbers can be found at TOP and at BOTTOM of pages. For me they are easily seen on this end in both areas over chips.

Welcome and hope you share your knowledge with us working on saws etc.

Thanks,
Kevin

Signed on to your forum just a short time ago really like it so far. My only problem is with my ipad I cannot make out page numbers or anything in black. On the ipad it doesn't show against the leaves, also the white news and welcome lines do not show up. Hate to be a complainer but its something that doesn't show up. My desk top works fine easy to see, my iPhone also has trouble. Thanks for having this site available during what seems to be unsettled times.

Ice I'm not smart enough to figure out how to change just the color of letters and numbers in certain areas.  I have to go with what is offered as a bulk insert right now.  Sorry.

I'm not a Ipod, pad, phone,  etc fan or user of anything. If it has anything to do with apple I  run the other way.  JMO, but I know some love their stuff.

Once I get used to something I hate change. This is about the limit of my computer skills, and so far no problems. It's the information and skills here that matter.

Going to have to say that my "old eyes" are having problems with the
wood chips background on this forum.
It is like camouflage.
The small/tiny blue text is almost impossible to notice or read with the wood chip background.
Love the content of the site, would love to see the background changed to something less "busy".

I hate to get rid of the wood chips because folks like them. Plus separated this site from  the oh hum boring look of every other looking site.

I'll try some different letter colors in the chips. Trying black.

Did you check out the black letters with chips?

Now I am on a white oak wood grain with dark blue letters.  Which was easier to read black or dark blue letters on the white oak?  Did both.

I like the wood chips but it is a little hard to read. Been a member for a while so I kind or memorized the words anyway.  Think maybe a couple of text color changes could work for the better other then that the pages numbers could be a little bigger so my fat fingers don't hit the wrong one on my touch screen  devices. But if I am the only one who sees it this way then leave it and I will just have to adapt.

I also have trouble reading any of the text that is superimposed on the wood chips, especially when  on my mobile phone. I would prefer a plain background behind any text.

If I have any options for changing this in my profile I am not aware of them.

Thank you.

Philbert

I know nothing about mobile phone usage or the tiny screens used to see stuff ( I couldnt even imagine trying).
I  did good just figuring out how to put tapatalk here for those mobile users.

Nothing I can do about text or number size either that I have found.

Cleared my browser history and now I have the wood grain.
Better than the wood chips.

I was wondering how you all was seeing chips still.  Do like winland clear browser history.

I'm going to move that long worded post about forum looks now, so I can study it. I can see it better in the post instead of the small area I have in the admin area. Just wanted you folks to see what I have to decipher to try and make changes.

What you are looking at is an HTML Style Sheet. Google that and you will find all kinds of explanations of what they are and what they mean.

Will that tell me the codes for such stuff. Just like 777#   is a color (what color?) or 000# color and thats to start.
Lot of the words are all foreign language to me even.

The chips were just a pile I made and took pic of. Maybe someday cut some really light colored chips in a pile and maybe it will help keep all the shadows down etc.
I agree the chips were hard to read around compared to the grain were using now.

FWIW, I like the grain better against the font size and color you have set up.

The writing on the chips was just about impossible for me to see. It is better on the oak but still hard to see. The writing on the leaf covered ground is almost invisible to me. Perhaps it's my eyesight but I am on the internet a lot and this is definitely one of the most difficult to see the text on.
Both the size of the font and the color combos are the issue.

Note: I am only referring to the top of the page. Wood grain and above. The rest of the pages are great.

I like this forum because it has less BS than many of the others. I like to exchange info without someone turning every thread into some kind of off color joke. Just wish I could view it easier. I use a computer, not a portable device fwiw.

Sounds like I need to find a nice pic for the top with a bunch of chainsaws that will show up with the black lettering. Hmmmm just thought of something if you hold the cursor over the letters on the top they change colors anyways. Try that.

I just tried it, run cursor over the letters on top of page and they turn white with lighted background. There you go.   ;)

There is always the "CTRL/+"...I use it to enlarge font on everything I look at on the 'net.

Got a few photo's of chainsaw.....the antique saw that were being shown off at the Fryeburg Fair 2013.  If you want them, I can send you the original photo's.
